In-Game Character Information

Name: Noah fon Ronsenburg (alias: Judge Magister Gabranth)
Series: Final Fantasy XII
Age: 37

Personality: Gabranth is a intense and commanding individual who views his words as law and upholds the standard need to be the head-administrator of the 9th Bureau, the leading lawmaking body in Archades. He is a poised and stern man who shows very little emotion while dictating the creed of his Emperor. He is a loyal individual, a man who would easily kill if his sire commands him to do so without falter. Yet with such stated, it seems that ‘Noah’ is not quite as stoic and unyielding as he seems to be under the role of Judge Magister.

Noah is very bitter man, who clings to the past. A man who is easily fueled by revenge and hatred. His hatred for his only kin, Basch, drove his impure endeavors to join the ranks of the Empire in order to claim his vengeance. Only after years of loyal servitude to the Empire did Noah learn the error of his ways. Noah’s hatred is stemmed by all the wrongdoings done upon him by brother and nation alike. He desires for others to know the same agony he’s felt by carving up a mere sample of the discord he feels within upon those who’ve wronged him. The anger he clings to is perhaps his greatest weakness as a person, for hatred can never become strength.

Unlike Basch, Noah lacks in his brother’s strength to overcome such guilt. He constantly ails himself with thoughts of shame, allowing such shame to crush whatever hopes and aspirations he still possesses. Even in his search for redemption, Noah seems still unable to put the past behind him despite all of his good efforts. While the peace he seeks is still within grasp, Noah has to work twice as hard as the next man does in order to claim it.

He’s a tourniquet of seeping emotions that continues to spiral and twist about wildly, despite pretending to be as strong and sturdy as steel. Noah is a troubled man who does his best to uphold the honour and prestige he once knew before the violence of the war overtook him and his people. His loyalty to the Empire matches the fealty he once possessed to his homeland of Landis, proving that the honour Noah believes he has lost is still present within him.

In truth, the Ronsenburg brothers are almost polar opposites of each other with some entangling truths that they both accept. Yet despite all their differences, they are truly one of the same for the twins do favor each other. Whether or not they choose to realize this is up to them.

Background:

Beyond the realm of reality, lies a realm of fantasy that exists deep within the barren deserts of Australia. This hidden world is barred from muggles born beyond its soil, a land of unspeakable wonders and great travesty. This is the world of Ivalice, a magical realm where sorcery is commonplace.

Born within such a land, Noah and his identical brother Basch were young men thrust into chaos by the brutality of Classism and warfare. Their mother was a pureblood, a woman of magick, who fell in love with a mere muggle, their father. Their parents’ union sparked much controversy within the wizardry world, leading to the twins’ mother to fall from grace. Always forced to prove his worth to those of pureblood, Noah struggled as hard as Basch to maintain their family honour. While such honour, chivalry, and nobility were always valued within Ivalice, Noah felt as if such values were simply unattainable for him. He struggled greatly in his youth to match his brother’s brilliance, but Noah never could overcome his brother’s shadow. Bitterness settled in between himself and Basch, eventually intensifying once the chaos within Landis began.

The Republic of Landis was a kingdom of sorcery and scholarly knowledge that was under the threat of imperialistic rule. Once the seeds of the Archadian Empire began to take root, Landis was crushed by the Empire’s might. The Archadian army Fsought to spread the Empire’s influence across all of Ivalice, caring very little for the smaller kingdoms impeding their march.

The fall of the Republic happened in one fell swoop, crushed beneath the heels of the Empire. During the madness, Basch fled to Dalmasca, leaving his brother and mother behind to fend for themselves. This ill-planned act would forever set the twins at odds, for Noah viewed Basch’s cowardice to be the ultimate betrayal. Basch may have sought to align himself with Dalmasca in hopes of fighting for independence, but the manner of his leave struck an ill cord with Noah.

Instead of following suit, Noah stayed behind to care for their ailing mother as the Empire continued on its march. Pleading for his mother’s life before the Empire, Noah was given two options: Die a dog’s death for the sake of the fallen Republic, or plead fealty to the Empire. Seeing the latter to be the best decision, Noah swore his blade in servitude to Archadia. He then began to weave an elaborate plot to reap revenge upon his cowardly brother, and destroy the Dalmasca his brother hoped to save.

Under Basch’s guise, Noah had him framed for treason, and even had Basch jailed with Azakaban Prison under false pretenses. His foul deeds won him the revenge he sought, but Noah’s bloodlust didn’t end there. He worked under the guidance of the Empire as their Judge and Executioner under the title of ‘Judge Magister’. Noah forsook his father’s name and changed it to ‘Gabranth’, his mother’s maiden name in order to hide his identity as Captain Ronsenburg’s twin.

As Gabranth, Noah was a brutal and cruel man guided by hatred, but such a façade began to fade once the Emperor of Archadia announced a new duty for Noah. Appointing him as the protector of his youngest son, Larsa Ferrinas Solidor, the icy exterior that Noah made for himself began to melt. He valued his blade no more as a tool of executioner, but as a means of defending Lord Larsa from harm. Noah took pride in his duties as Larsa’s stalwart protector, even swearing to lay down his life if the time calls for it. His loyalty to the both Larsa and the Empire won his notoriety amongst Archades streets, and soon Gabranth fond himself thrust into combat once an Dalmascan Insurgence laid a campaign to thwart the Empire.

After many skirmishes against the enemy, the ties of the war laid in Dalmasca’s favour. The Empire’s march was halted, and peace was restored to that tiny little kingdom amongst the sands. While the sordid ties between Basch and he were mended, Noah didn’t truly feel at peace, and a nagging guilt began to overcome him once Basch took his leave from Ivalice. Knowing of his brother’s ties with the Princess of Dalmasca, Noah was quite shocked to hear that Lord Larsa would be attending the same school as her, Hogwarts. The strange tensions enveloping Europe won the Empire’s attention, and now he was to be sent there in order to keep a wary eye on this disruption as Larsa’s bodyguard.

Hopeful he would gain the information that the Empire seeks; Noah left Ivalice with hesitation at the thought of meeting his kin again.

Blood: Halfblood; mother was pureblood, father a muggle.

Preferred House: Ravenclaw or Slytherin
Why you think they belong in this house? Unlike Basch who upholds chivalry and lives honourably enough to be a Gryffindor or Hufflepuff, Noah is more known for ingenuity and sternness. He could possibly fit in well with Ravenclaw because of his wit, but also fit in well with Slytherin because of his cunning nature. I’m leaning more on Slytherin for Noah than Ravenclaw considering that the Slytherin household are known to be both stern, cunning individuals who act more on the behalf of their own interests than for the sake of the school. Noah certainly acted such a way during the war, but now days he seems to be attempting to turn a new leaf.

Staff Position: Law Professor [3,5 yr]
Why you think they fit this position? Considering that Noah is the Judge Magister of the 9th Bureau of Archades, the lawmaking body of the Empire, I assume that Noah would very well learned in the ways of wizardry laws. He could also fit the role as a Government professor as well considering his ties to the Archadian Senate, but I’m a tad personally interested in Noah becoming a Law Professor instead.

If Professor would you want them to be Head of House? Sure~

Roleplay Samples

Journal Sample:

The students here carry such a lofty air about them, almost as if they fancy themselves as learned scholars. Such arrogance is truly unbecoming, but I shall persevere. The School Board has chosen me to be counted amongst new members of the board, therefore be cautious when speaking so callously around me.

I, Professor Gabranth, shan’t show leniency towards those who feint intelligence. Therefore, I advise you to actually study your notes when attending my class. Homework isn’t optional, and be well-prepared for any future class debates. That is all.

As for fellow members of Hogwarts’ staff, I look forward to meeting you.

Roleplay Sample:

The students of Hogswarts were a haughty bunch of undisciplined thrill-seekers that seemed not to know their place amongst the school. Some of the youths seemed to be willing enough to abide by the rules, but far too many of them lacked discipline. It was almost tiring for Gabranth to wander through these crowded halls in-between classes. The children here reminded him far too much of the arrogant boys and girls that line the streets of the Archades. While he was miles away from his imperial home, Gabranth felt as if he couldn’t put enough distance between himself and the Empire. He held no objects regarding the Emperor’s decree to watch over the young Larsa here, but he certainly couldn’t help but feel a tad cautious for Larsa’s sake.

He didn’t want the prince to wander through this school on his own, yet he didn’t wish to suffocate Larsa with his presence. This was a tricky affair; one that Gabranth was certain will become even trickier over time. If anything foul was to befall upon Larsa, he will be blamed accordingly, and the Empire will miss the brilliance that child possesses. Larsa is a little emperor in the making, a leader who shall unite the lands of Ivalice under a peaceful flag unlike his predecessors. Knowing that his young liege will become a fine ruler someday, Gabranth couldn’t help but be worried for the youth. The House of Solidor was known for their greatness, but with such greatness comes terrible tragedy. Gabranth vowed to keep such tragedies at bay, yet can he truly do so. He knows that the future is an uncertain one, but Gabrnath hopes that he can.

Finally reaching the threshold of his classroom, the moody professor was nearly trampled over by a pack of running teens. They paid no heed or attention to Gabranth’s cross words, only laughing as they continued to pelt each other with crumpled pieces of paper. The glower that settled upon Gabranth’s face was quite comical.

“Ridiculous ardents…”
