i hope you get better soon, kurt... i went tonight and thought nancy was great, i hope the two bucks for this pin will help with the guitars... i saw you messing with your guitar during the nancy set, that was when it was yours, i dont remember the other one, but that really sucks.

we should talk sometime about population control and all that jazz, it seems like it would be a good conversation.

I know it sounds Socialistic, but I honestly don't think China is out of line with kid limits. I think it's smart, in fact. Resources aren't limited, and population is growing (more than) exponentially.

true, but i dont see fixing the ability to procreate as a viable option. it just seems to take away your right to pursue happiness to me. to me, the constitution is more than a document, its an ever-evolving living thing, that although it changes with the times is upheld and given precedent to anything else. its my right to have kids, and as many as i want (in my opinion) and i would like to keep it that way. its your own damn fault if you have too many, use a condom.

I agree, but... judiasmaximus November 6 2006, 23:34:38 UTC
I totally agree, and that's the issue (freedom vs. common benefit). It should be the right of people to do whatever they want, including in the element of procreation.

More than most other countries, the U.S. especially hopes to encourage individuals to excercise their freedoms; we pride ourselves on that, and rightly so. However, one of the core stipulations of these rights is that while you are free to do whatever you want, that freedom ends when it harms or violates the rights of another person.

I feel it is perfectly fine for people to make more people as they please - as long as that does not affect the rights of others. As it stands, the world population is increasing dramatically and we are inversely consuming resources as demand increases. This has nothing to do with global warming, in my opinion. It has to do with simple overwhelming of resources. It is not unreasonable to believe that humans, the most demanding of species, will eventally choke this planet. How do we fix this ( ... )

Sorry I couldn't make it to the show. Some stuff came up.
Your comment on population control and the demise of the US Empire caught my attention.
Do you view the US as an Empire?
