We'll do TBaF next week. We do a bit with story structure with MDG with conflict, and genre.

With TBaF, we look at Man vs. Nature, and Man vs. Self, but we also consider the audience: who was London writing FOR, and how did that shape his narrative, especially when considering the author's life experiences?

When we consider the reasons behind the story, the why would the author do that to the reader becomes not only clear, but admirable.
With the discovery of gold in 1896 in the Klondike by George Washington Carmack,100,000 people went up to the area to strike it rich. Only 40,000 made it, meaning 60,000 people died that first winter. London wanted to ensure that more people were prepared for the bitter cold, so he could save lives.
