Tonight is sushi night. We're all getting together and making sushi. We're gonna go buy fish, veggies, rice, tempura, etc etc. And we're gonna make it. And then eat it. And everybody's gonna be there

Re Dr. Metcalf expecting you to have already started your thesis: that riles anger in me because it reminds me of my advisor emailing me and wondering why I wasn't all prepared for coming back to USM. They don't understand that Mississippi is the LAST thing on your mind, and that you're living a totally new, different, and better life over there and it's ludicrous to expect you to be doing something not related to France. It's so ethnocentric it makes me want to rip their fingers off so they can't type any more emails.
yeah i know!!! except that usually people do their theses on their concentration, and they study abroad in the area of their concentration, and sometimes they start their theses early so that they can get original research while they're in the country that they're studying blah blah blah. i don't care though. but yeah, MS and my life over there is definitely the last thing on my mind.

Ha! Right. USM is far from being any better than Ole Miss, and Hattiesburg/Petal is way worse than Oxford. It'd be nice to live at home and not have to pay bills of course, but that would mean living in Petal and having to commute to Hattiesburg every day and I think I'd rather put up with the Croft Institute for one more year than live in Petal. And living in Hattiesburg would be okay, but transferring my UM courses to USM would be hassle enough, let alone my courses over here, and then there's the question of financial aid. It's just not practical. I'd sooner drop out all together than try to transfer. If I do transfer anywhere, it'll be to the Université de Savoie. Sorry, I didn't mean to write so much.
