Compared to what? These are thoughts that have been rattling around for a while, it's not like there was something recently to trigger this post, other than discovering the lyrics.

The first set I saw on a bumper sticker walking through the campus parking lot this morning, and googled bits to find the full quote. Of course, I'm already pretty cynical, so I guess it's too late for me on that one.

The second is a song I've had for a long time, but just recently really listened to for the first time (as opposed to hearing it as background noise). Trish has a lot more rage built up about the whole end-of-the-world thing than I do, but I sympathize, and it seems pretty clear that's what he's talking about.
