Hey, 90 per cent of China's food is safe. That's what Beijing told Hong Kong after the recent food scare in which the mainland seemed to be trying to kill us with no fewer than three variations of contaminated fish.

So I'll only become ill from one in ten meals? I like those odds!

haha, somehow those phrases are funnier once translated into english -
when i hear them on cctv i rarely notice how absurd they sound.
i guess ppl talk like that all the time that i've grown accustomed to the wording and phrasing.

lol, exactly.

I was with a Chinese friend who has lived in the states for like, 15 years, and we went to see a taping of one of those awful chunjie specials and we were laughing over the language being used... she had forgot how slogan-based it was at times...

well, technically, if its real street food, the "restaurants" can do what they do best: run from the po-lice and just come back the next morning :)
