....

nah. i kid. that's obviously not real. well, i mean, it was real in that it was ink on my skin, but it was actually just the product of me sitting with a pen for 15 minutes.

i really have taken a liking to it though. i was all sad when it washed off. ive been thinking quite a lot lately about getting a tattoo, and the more i think about it, the better it sounds. i know [i know i know] getting a tattoo is a serious decision to make, which is why ive been thinking on it so much. and i really think ive rationalized it to the point at which something needs to happen.

i present to you, my thought process and eventual validation for the necessity of this permanent body-inking:

- ok. so i know that a tattoo is a serious thing, so its gotta be something thats really truly important to me. since my dad passed away [wow..almost] two years ago, ive always thought of getting a tattoo for him in memoriam. i know that its probably not the way he woulda wanted me to go about it haha but he was also a crazy mofo back in the day and i'm sure he would understand and appreciate the sentiment. and plus, if this does happen, i would probably go with chrisitine [my sister]. that would be a good experience.

- so upon deciding that, i came up with the idea of the phoenix [though i'm sure its really not that uncommon]. the symbol of making good things out of bad things, life out of death, rising from the fires and turning tragedy into beauty. and beyond the event of my father's passing, that concept of the phoenix in itself is kinda what i'm all about. making beauty. i know that sounds pretentious, but that how i feel about a lot of lifes little shits. i mean, they happen, but dont let it burn you up. and so i was sitting in my room and i drew this on my arm. heres a better angle, actually--

i also made it a point to draw it myself. and its not only about getting an entirely original tat, though thats kinda part of it. if im gonna do this for my dad, then its gonna come from me. not some tattoo parlor guy. its gotta be like...look what i did for you. he would appreciate it.

- i sent those pictures to my sister. she likes it, but wanted to remind me about the job market. i gave her my "im a film major, thank you very much" speech, but in all seriousness i think it'll be ok. i mean, i never intend to work in an office anyway. id die first. or wear long sleeves.

but seriously, having it on my arm is key. sure i could get it somewhere more discreet, but if im going to get something emblazoned on my body in memory of my dad, i want to be able to see it all the time.

but cat, what about when you're old and wrinkly? that shit is permanent!

yeah yeah, i know. but you know what? at the end of this crazy life of mine, it will remind me of my youth, how much fun life was, and how i didnt waste my days on earth.

i am in love with this idea.

and now a few words from a great man, fortunato:

fort: i know ity seems bad, but as i was thinking of amazing things to for everyone else to have, like huge feats of amazingness, i realized that i probobly wont lead a life like that, so i hope now to win a Nobel Peace Prize
fort: no doubt, i'm gonna pour a little out for my homies and shout out to the conglomerate and the piermont posse and TZ
cat: hahaa worrrd
fort: i'll accept at a dinner and when i go up to say my speach, i'll bring a tall glass of burbon, and the first thing i'll say is "Ladies and gentleman, raise your glasses"
fort: "Now, pour a little out for the homies fallen
fort: "and a toast to a more everlasting earth"
cat: hahahaha worrrrd
fort: Then it'll be along the lines of "I thank you for this amazing honor, i can't belive a little college idea brought so much life a vitality to the earth. I would like to thank my inspiration . These people really gave me the drive and power to do this. For my power, I'd like to thank ma troops from back in the Rock, and the Piermont Posse, who reminded me just what was good in life a very long tie ago. But most importantly, for my drive to keep going even when i was totally wasted and straining every muscle in my body, I would like to the Conglomerate, for the days of sweet summer sidewalk surfin. ::thumb-pinky "shibby" sign:: Thank you everyone, once again...but i gotta roll...have faith in life and stay on the sunny side, even if it is the sunny inside."
cat: ahahaah
cat: thats fuckin profound dude.
fort: word son word

i miss this kid like no otha.
