My first place vision of the world is one where people don't get special rights just for falling in love and then choosing to enter into a particular relationship model approved by the government. The government shouldn't have a place in our personal lives and relationships with others.

A lot of work is yet to be done - same-sex marriage isn't necessarily legal because of this, just not illegal, which is different - but a step forward is progress. Hopefully that progress continues. I'm sure that at least some cities will have legalised same-sex marriage and begun ceremonies within a few weeks; if I recall correctly, some already have and been shot down with injunctions, which means those injunctions should have lifted as of this ruling.

The fundamental problem is that people take other people way too seriously. Not once have I ever been harmed by someone else's preferences. Sure, I've been hit on, but I've found that explaining that I'm hetero is pretty easy to do and does not result in any terrifying damage.

...what? I got hit on. ...once.

maybe i just have an intimidating manner or i'm just so handsome that i seem out of reach or something is all i'm saying
