So yeah! I passed my first year of nursing school! What a relief. I not only passed, but this is what I ended up with for spring semester:
!!!
I never had near the anxiety that I had fall semester. I didn't have computer problems either. The only problems that I had was when I went to clinicals. For the first times, my patient either discharged early, or ended up not wanting a student nurse. The people that I did take care of were wonderful. It gave me confidence that I will make a great nurse one day!
My parents gave me a hammock as a reward. We don't have trees that are close enough together, so we had to get a stand as well. The only complaint that I have is that I don't get a lot of reading done in it. It's low enough so that Toots can drop her toys down next to me.
Then she stares at me or barks until I toss the damned thing. Hehe! She's such a pain.
The icky June Bugs are back!
One flew right at my head the other night when I let the dogs in! I screamed like a little girl and ran away. Ed thought that it was the funniest thing. It wasn't. They are truly horrifying!
I've picked up more hours at work. I now have a coworker who also attends nursing school with me. I oriented her the other day. It was pretty odd, but I think it'll be nice to have someone else there who understands what I am and will go through with school next semester.
I was getting a little nervous. Zac bought Zac Brown Band tickets a month or so ago. The concert takes place in Chillicothe, IL, and I originally had to work. It took a lot of effort to get someone to work for me. It ended up being that one girl is going to stay late and another girl is going to come in early. I was so happy to FINALLY see my name taken off of June 10th! I love Zac Brown's work. There aren't many albums that I can listen to all the way through, but I absolutely love "The Foundation." I bought the newest disc the other day, and am liking it a lot thus far. It is SO WEIRD how much my Zac and Zac Brown look alike. I think that I would have been heartbroken if I had ended up missing the show. I suppose if all else had failed, I could have called in sick, but then I probably would have been subjected to disciplinary action. :/ I can't technically get sick until September. I can only get sick five times per year, so now I have to wait until that September call-in rolls off. Ug! Yes, it's a job, I'll quit complaining.
Other than that, life has been great! Happy as ever. Been working hard and playing harder! :D
It's been very chilly lately. I hope that it gets a little bit warmer when June gets here! I want to wear a sundress gosh darn it! Anyway, I've been grilling a little bit. I also bought a new wrought iron table. :) I've been spending as much time outside as possible!
Tootie is amazing.
I'm still a gigantic Twins fan. We are 14.5 games back, but they are still my boys. I am sick to death of Joe Mauer. The guy obviously cannot catch anymore, and this team does not have the balls to tell him to move to another position. So...what? We pay unGodly amounts of money to a guy who is only going to be able to play for a few weeks? And then we don't have any money left over to get decent players, and here we are! :P When I was bitching about Joe a few weeks ago, I was told that I'm not a true Twins fan. Well, so be it! I'm sick of it!
Harmon Killebrew, a Twins great, passed away the other day. Although I have never met the guy, or even saw him play, reading about him, and watching his memorial service brought me to tears a few times. He seemed like a quality person! I don't enjoy beer anymore. I don't know....it gives be a headache. While watching a game (that the Twins actually WON,) I had a brew for Killebrew. :)
I have wanted to go to this for quite some time:
I decided that I was going to go this year, so I hopped in line and managed to snag a pair before they quickly sold out. I am so excited!
Zac and I were hanging out a few weekends ago, and I got a call from a classmate. He had tickets to see the Dalai Lama and couldn't use them! It was funny because that morning over the newspaper and coffee/tea, we had talked about how cool it would be to see him! It took place in a hockey arena, and the acoustics were awful, but I am glad that I went.
I really like the idea of Buddhism. I bought this bracelet, and a little--I don't know how to explain it--it's a little wall hanging that has a long Dalai Lama quote on it. It basically says to be grateful for your life and to make the most of it, and help all beings in any way that you can.
I have been doing just that! I've been toad rescuing.
I also went on the Humane Society Walk for Animals! It was pouring down rain, but Jennie said she'd go with me. We walked the whole five miles, and when we were done, the sun came out! Toots had just given me a rare, yet muddy kiss!
The funny thing is, on the morning of going to see the Dalai Lama, we quickly realized that my car had been broken into. I was SO mad. They took my $30 iPod car charger. I had to buy my fourth one the other day! Ug. They also took a pack of gum. I closed bank accounts due to the fact that I wasn't exactly sure what (if anything) was in my car pertaining to banking information. Pain in the butt.
Tommy had a son! Tommy Jr. Happy for him.
Jess and Courtney had a big turning 30 party. They rented a party bus and we bar hopped Northeast Minneapolis. I really need to get my pictures uploaded. So behind. I'm using iPhone pictures and pictures that have been tagged on Facebook from others.
I met Zac in Waterloo, Iowa last weekend. It's the midpoint between here and Peoria. We rented a jacuzzi suite, and they allowed dogs! I brought Tootie!
A big storm came through. It was pretty awesome watching it from the ninth floor!
When it hit, I was outside playing fetch with Tootie. I knew that I should probably get back inside quickly because Toots, who is normally crazy about her ball, and will do anything to get it, took a dump and ran for the hotel....totally forgetting about her ball! I couldn't find her poop, and the rain and wind just started to pelt us. I finally found it, bagged it, and we got back to safety.
There are definitely some interesting folks in Iowa!
And here comes my political rant! Minnesota wants to make a marriage amendment. It's a one man and one woman deal. We get to vote on it in 2012. I'll be damned if it passes! I'm not sure what I am going to do yet, but I'm not going to sit idle.
I'll get back to reading your entries tomorrow! I admit, I have been naughty about that. I feel bad!
