in which I fail at girldom

I wore heels to work today. This is a major event! I subject myself to walking on my tiptoes about two times a year. Why? Yes, they make my legs look amazing, but they also make me look like an idiot; I just can't get the hang of them -- my gait becomes choppy, and I can't figure out how to fix that. I'm usually a fast walker, and forcing myself to ( Read more... )

sigh, events, birds don't dress me in the morning

I can't help. I'm like you. I have lots of heels but I don't wear them most of the time. I prefer kitten heels. But if I do have an event where I feel like I need to wear high heels I just suffer through it. XD

1. Where are the shoes from, and pics if you can!!!

2. It depends on the material of the shoe and whate kind they are. Leather tends to stretch more and mold to the shape of your foot over time more than synthetic materials and canvas. A few thin straps will stretch out more quickly than a closed pointy toe, etc. Either way, it's good for you to plan ahead and wear them in short increments now before the big event (I'm guessing you can slip the shoes off your feet while sitting at your desk, which won't be the case the night of the gala).

DSW! That place is insane. The brand is Charles David -- the shoes are leather, so I guess that's good news. Here's a picture:

I feel your pain. Literally. But the last time I wore anything resembling heels was on a trip to LA about 5 years ago and they were just sandals with a raised heel. Walking around Hollywood in those was memorable in one of the worst ways possible. ;)

If I wear heels, I can only go up to about 2 inches, unless I'm hanging out with a bunch of NBA players, and it doesn't really matter if I'm over 6 feet tall! It's not often I hang out with basketball players, so you can imagine my excitement a couple of years ago when flats came into style! Before then, it was *impossible* for me to find dress shoes that didn't look like something my grandmother would wear!

Heh I'm one of those who tends to make it a habit but I've been wearing heels since I was in 8th grade. I'm 5'2, I need to compensate! I'd suggest practicing on carpet for awhile walking back and forth and then practice on a hard surface. I'd wear the shoes to work as well for a couple of days to break them in. They should become second nature after a few days.
