I rarely ever mention my family here -- generally when I do it's a complaint. That's not going to change in this entry, though they are great people most of the time.

So, quick background:

My mom can be very much like this, difficult and juvenile when things don't go her way. I did some therapy a few years ago that really helped me work through my issues with her, and my therapist gave me some great strategies to interact with her. I just stopped indulging it, calmly told her my boundaries and limits, and slowly over the years it has gotten so much better. I just don't let her baiting get to me anymore. It was hard and took practice, but it totally works. They do it because they know they can get away with it, I think. Anyway that's been my experience.

It must be a foreign thing, because my mom pulls that shit all the time too! Except we usually end up screaming at each other. It's the Italian way.
