I've been trying to be a good financial girl the last few months, because I really needed to get my shit together about saving for buying my own home and then, you know, paying a mortgage for the next thirty thousand years. Oh, yep, I'm doing the emergency fund thing and the different savings goals, but the nice thing about YNAB is that you actually don't need to worry about separate accounts for all those things, or about setting up separate paycheck deposits and all that. I used to have all that, but with YNAB you can just put all your money in once place which makes things a lot simpler. It relates to not letting your account balance tell you how much money you have - there's no need to put money in different accounts in order to know what you've got, because that's all covered by YNAB. The only thing I do is move money out of my main account into a high interest account every now and then, which I time to ensure I get bonus interest and such.

Good luck with your own savings. Man, I was thinking the other day that I'm glad I'm not trying to buy in a place like NYC, but what an amazing place to live if you can make it happen! :D
