howdy!
First of all, happy, happy birthday to onetwomany who celebrates her birthday on February 3rd. Being as she is Down Under, she has already celebrated ;-) but I still want to wish her happy birthday lol!
Well, my computer is still not fixed. But fear not, gentle reader - it should be fixed soon. It turns out that the CD drive that I reported to Dell back in September and November actually was causing problems. Aside from the issue of it shorting out, per my tech who installed my new hard drive, it was coming up with these annoying "Unsafe removal of device" errors the other night as I was trying to reinstall software on the hard drive. *sigh* So I called Dell over the weekend, was told that the tech couldn't help me as far as requesting a replacement CD drive, and that I couldn't speak to a manager like I requested, since there were no managers available on the weekend. Ooookay... I called yesterday though, and got a nice guy who was able to help me out. Dell is sending a tech here to replace the CD drive, and is giving me replacement copies of Windows 2K (it's scratched and is now unreadable) and the Dell Resource/Diagnostic/Driver CD (cracked). All on Dell's dime, thank goodness. So maybe I will revise my previous thought about Dell's customer service. My tech said that it's possible that the CD drive that's being replaced actually caused the damage to the two CDs, because not only was it shorting out, it also had too much play in the drive and in the bay within the computer, so that CDs were spinning out of control within the drive.
I'm off to a rehearsal with Lisa this morning - first time in close to two months. Looking forward to it. Snow and freezing rain forecast for later, then all rain. Sax lesson at 5:30 with Derrick. Yep, it's a busy day.
New AtS tomorrow - and I promise that when I comment about it, I will use cut tags (sorry, G! Please forgive me!) so I don't inadvertently spoil anyone who hasn't seen the episode yet. I just remembered how to use the tags lol!
