I know I sound like a broken record, but...

...we have to do whatever we can to save "Angel"! Don't forget to go to Saving Angel to donate for ads, etc., and get banners and postcards for downloading and sending to the PTB. Here is something I got from the Marsters Mobsters forum:

Forwarded with permission

Word has come out from a source at UPN that they don't want to pick up "leavings" from other networks, so the possibility of Angel being picked up by them is small.

As I indicated in messages yesterday, the people at Fox are reacting to all of the postcards and faxes sent to them by saying that Fox will not be picking up the show for their own networks, and wanted all of the cards,
faxes and calls to be directed to UPN since they were negotiating with them to take the show.

If you haven't heard, after next week's episode, instead of showing repeats of Angel as they usually do, the WB will be showing "best of" episodes of Smallville in Angel's 9:00 timeslot for five weeks. They're running this as a "viewer's choice" kind of thing--vote for the episodes you want to see and they will play them. Check out my next message for more info, but what
they're really trying to do is to cool off the fanbase for Angel and get us to quiet down and stop complaining.

DON'T QUIET DOWN.

At this point, as I said originally, the best chance we have of getting the show picked up by !Somebody! next year is to get as much publicity through the media as we can and keep the Angel cancellation in the news. That's the only way that somebody at the WB is going to get the idea that Levin screwed up (Ancier, the co-chairman, has reason to want to show up Levin and prove
that he is better equipped to run the network), or for UPN to decide that Angel isn't anybody's "leavings", or some other network like TNT, Showtime, or somebody else to change their mind and pick up the show.

Keep bombarding the major reporters and critics with postcards (especially the oversized, giant postcards -- check this message:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/the_s...e/message/27320 for info on super-sizing your postcards and forward it to other groups please) and don't give up hope. The fact that the networks are making statements publicly
about how they do NOT intend to pick up Angel means that they are under a lot of pressure and that the mail campaigns are getting noticed. Let's keep the pressure on. Forward this message to any other lists, forums and boards interested in helping to keep Angel on the air.

KEEP THE PRESSURE ON.

Please pass on this message and let's do all we can to ensure a sixth season for Angel.

also...

This one has to be done carefully, since we don't want to hurt another show in order to help Angel. After all, the people at Smallville didn't come up with this special "best of Smallville" showing, the suits at the WB did it.

They're having voting on the WB website to pick five episodes of ten selected by the producers of Smallville as "viewer's favorites" to be shown for five weeks starting two weeks from tonight for five weeks during Angel's timeslot instead of Angel repeats.

Are we going to sit back quietly for this one?

You can't enter anthing on the WB "vote" webpage to let them know how you feel--but you can sure flood the WB with comments about why you'd rather see Angel at 9:00 Wednesdays instead of Smallville repeats.

I usually do not advocate email, but for this special purpose let's flood out their box. Be creative in how you word your emails to try to avoid spam filters:

1. Do NOT mention the word Angel in your email. Instead, mention Smallville (NO NEGATIVE COMMENTS ABOUT THAT SHOW PLEASE) and say that you'd rather NOT
see more Smallville on Wednesday night instead of "the show that usuallly is shown at 9:00" or "Joss' show" or "Whedon's show" or the "vampire show" or "your favorite supernatural show" or something else like that. Get past the spam filters they will be setting up. Think creatively!

2. Mention that you want to see the same Wednesday night shows next season as you see this season, and change the wording of that around too. Think like a spammer for this campaign.

Here's the email address: faces@t... (faces @ thewb . com )

SEND -- SEND -- SEND and let's hope they get the message.

Also, here is the WB web form for feedback where you can tell them you'd rather be watching Angel Wednesday nights instead of more Smallville:

http://www.thewb.com/Shows/WithFeed...0,74510,00.html

And to make sure....here is the fax number for the WB: 818-977-4033

And the Voicemail number: 818-977-5000 (ask for voicemail feedback)

Of course, keep those postcards coming in and mail them directly to:

The WB Television Network
Attn: Garth Ancier
4000 Warner Blvd.
Building 34R
Burbank, CA 91522

If you want to complain at the local level--then by all means go to this page:

http://thewb.com/Stations/Index/0,8112,,00.html

to find your local WB affiliate and then send them email, postcards and call them up on the phone to let them know how you feel about the cancellation of
Angel. Don't believe them if they say that they have no control over what is shown by the networks--the affiliates hold the real power and if they start
questioning Levin's decision to cancel the show they will be listened to. Let the local stations know that the main reason you watch their station instead of some other station is because of Angel.

Permission is given to copy this message to other boards, forums and lists where people are interested in keeping Angel on the air. Spread the word.

malbisse

I don't know who Malbisse is, but he/she raises several good points in here, along with the wealth of information provided. This is the same person who authored that initial communication which everyone thought came directly from James Marsters, about acting quickly and who to write to. I am getting out more postcards today and tomorrow, and urge all my LJ buddies and their friends to do the same.

On the positive side, I sent the tentative MR con schedule to gamiila and calove, so we can do more dreaming and planning about being together at the con - a little more than 3 months from now!! Yippee!!

Now, a little bit about last night's "Angel" episode -

*sniff* I knew Joss would tear out my heart and stamp on it yet again! Poor Fred! Poor Wesley! No sooner are they together, then Joss kills Fred. That last scene between them had me in tears. No music behind it - did you notice that? Great acting by both Amy Acker and Alexis Denisof.

But :bwah: about Angel and Spike and the "Cavemen vs Astronauts" argument! That was hilarious.

Fred becoming ill brought out the beast in EVERYONE! Wesley shooting that poor schmuck? Lorne punching (not sayin' she didn't deserve it, mind you ;-) ) and threatening Eve like that? Angel and Spike working in tandem to try to save her? And now the "hand-holding" screencap is explained (sorry, I am just not a slasher).

Poor Gunn - play with fire, make a deal with the devil, and you will get burned. But Knox being the bad guy - what a schnook. Did Gunn kill him when he clonked him in the head with the fire extinguisher? Guess I'll have to wait till next week.

Okay, have to run - more another time. But get out there and help save "Angel"! Don't make me come after you on this one! ;-)
