The wakeup song was You've Got a Friend in Me, from the Toy story soundtrack.
It was cold at park, but Vonya did a 1 quickly.
Yes, her name is Vonya.
I was given her meds for entry into NZ, and yesterday, she was given a topical flea/tick med.
It is nice working them in the house, but we have the option to heel them in our wings, or in the house area. Anything down the main stairs, to the hallway is public.
The shuttle started running today, which means we are on first or second trip. The shuttle is a mini bus, with TSE puppy pics on the windows. This is great, as we can get more bus practice.
I went in at 9.
Kathy Daily was our host for the day at the DTC.
Our trip went well, and there was a barrier in which the dogs had to go in the street, and out again. There was also a traffic check and dog distraction. The planned dog distractions have a bell on them, so we know where they are. Vonya did excellent work with the dog distraction, traffic check, and barrier. After a successful street crossing, if I get down to her level, she'll kiss me, and bite my nose. I have a new nickname for her, monkey shark. My instructor calls her monkey, and I call her shark, as her teeth can be quite sharp. I do like the little nibbles, as they remind me of a puppy. Now, if only she had puppy breath, I'd be in heaven! I do love that smell, I know, I'm wierd, LOL!
Earlier, she also avoided one of TSE's cats.
Coffee break started today, but I had to miss it, as I was on my trip. I was told the sugar cookies were great.
At 11, we had the intro to clicker training lecture. Partcipation is optional, but I will do this.
We did obedience, and this time, we worked on dropping the leash, and having Vonya rest. She has been doing very well with resting, and obedience in general.
After lunch, in which I ate a highly chocolate goodness brownie, it was back into town. As you can see from the menu below, it was a comfort food kind of lunch. This called for a nap. So, while I was waiting at the DTC, I had a nap on a chair in the sun. Voyna had a nap, also.
The second trip went well also, and I was reminded about my veering to the right in the street. We continued working on ensuring Vonya gives me enough of a stop at the up curbs. If she doesn't, I have her sit, and tap the ramp with my foot, then proceed forward.
I had a nap until park time. As I opened the crate, I was about to ask Vonya to rest, but she shot out past me to her food bowl. By the time I got to her, about 10 seconds later, she only had a few bits left. I had to laugh.
After dinner, we had the senses lecture. Leigh is on tonight, and she loves reading The Miricle of a Blind Man and his Dog, by Peter Putnum. He had TSE dogs from 1941, and was still alive in 1991. I really love that article, and encourage everyone to read it.
At last park, Vonya finally gave an assisted 2. It was assisted, because she was matched, which is where an instructor sticks a dry, paper match in the dog's bum. Athe the prevous park, she did the butt waddle cried bit, but decided not to go. This time, after being matched, she successfully parked. It was large, but not very soft, which is good, because in class their 2's can be on the very soft side. I know, TMI!
After park, it was time for Leigh's milkshakes. I had 2, chocolate/peanut butter, and chocolate. They were delish indeed. I chatted to a couple classmates and then retired to my room.
Tomorrow, we practice our solos.
