Progression towards enlightenment. Expending energy over trivialites keeps us from using that energy to propel towards who we are truly meant to be.

As in that which does not move us forward either leaves us stationary or moves us backwards.

I think I learned this the hard way at my last job. Right before I was "laid off" i was told people thought i was "harsh and confrontational." I laughed! Me? Confrontational? Me, who avoids conflict whenever possible? I don't think that was why I was ultimatley laid off (i have no idea really why i was though speculation has been rampant). What was even funnier was that when i was hired here, when i met with my boss' boss in my first couple days, he told me i beat out all the other people they interviewed because they thought i was really nice and would be good in the customer service part of the job... so i learned pretty quick to simply be nice no matter how much of an idiot people are. Fortunately for me, i work with very few idiots here, which is very refreshing. most of the people at my last job were idiots... and after almost 3 years here, people still like me and things are going well, so i guess it works... :)

this is a lesson I think I could use to learn.

I think there have been several times that I have an amount of credibility that I then have had to earn back through stellar performance, proving myself right through the eventual outcome, etc. many times, I think good ideas get lost in my presentation, simply because my presentation involves far to much complaining about what is currently broken in the situation rather than simply a "this would be a better way of doing X due to these factors and with these potential outcomes..."

something to dwell on and explore I think
