Jane Austen-fest...

Jun 01, 2008 22:29

Oh awesome!! I'm pretty sure the ABC are going to start airing all the new Jane Austen movies/miniseries on Sunday nights now. The old BBC Emma with Kate Beckinsale aired tonight, and next week is Persuasion - which I alternate with Mansfield Park as my favourite Austen novel... except for you know, there's Pride & Prejudice too. Anyways....

hee, yay!! I watched a bit of Emma tonight [although I'm not so sure about that Mr. Knightly...:P ] I don't think I've seen Persuasion. I'm so there. [More fodder for picspams/romantic rambling!] :D

Heeee!! Okay, I was so expecting you to reply first :P I taped it, though I'm pretty sure I've seen it before, ages ago - haha, I hear you on the Mr Knightley though. Have heard good things about the new Persuasion, so looking forward to it! And I know Billie Piper was Fanny Price in the new adaption of Mansfield Park...

Of course! :D It helps that I'm already obsessing over them. And I just realised Persuasion has Rupert Penry-Jones in it [I'm already his fan from Spooks], such a bonus. *happy sigh*

Heeee! I knew that you would be all over it, being both an avid ABC watcher, and a period drama lover :D And I did read that! Haha, I think there will end up being quite a few British actor cross overs!!

I have seen them, but I could watch them over and over again. I am such a sucker for a period piece! :D

Haha, fair enough!! And I think it's been well established that we are both period drama suckers!! Oh hey, getting more and more excited about Rose's return too!

Nooo! I can't get ABC! (oh wait, holidays!) I love the period dramas and there's so many I haven't seen. Isn't Billie Piper in Mansfield Park (my Dad made it a point to email me about her upcoming appearance when he saw the trailer, lol)

Heee! I was just thinking that - but yeah, you'll be home for most of it, I think!! And yep, BP is in Mansfiel Park - that should be interesting! Ooh, I was trying to search out their airing schedule, but they don't have it up. Also, have you seen the DW trailer for the rest of the season?? The Doctor's reaction with Donna about Rose coming back is love!!

Will be very interesting to see her in a period piece. And of course! I flailed madly, I won't lie! The Doctor's cute little, 'Yes' when she asked him if it was a good thing Rose was coming back? *flail*

Hehe, of course!! What was I thinking?! :P And his smile!! I love that clearly he was concerned - because it must be something big for Rose to be able to come back from the parallel world, but then, he couldn't help be happy! Also, Rose all badass with the gun! And I sort of love the idea of 'darkness' being the scary evil!

Dudeee! Can I come over and watch with you? PLEASE? And they should totally do the new and the old versions. And I lovelovelovelovelovelove Mansfield Park - it's my favorite of them all. Heck I like it better than P&P, but as much as I like Billie Piper, it freaks me out to see her in it. She will totally ruin it, for sure. Frances O'Connor is the one and only Fanny Price. (I was equally, if not more, squicked out by Keira Knightly in the new P&P adaption). Heh, also I just IMDBed Frances O'Connor and apparently she was in Halifax f.p. Dude, I used to love that show. (Just a dose of randomness. It's good for the heart.)

[Also, I can pull P&P icons out of my hat, too.]

Ha - totally! And bring your big ass TV whilst you're at it, okay?! :P I think they're mainly doing all the new ones which aired in the UK last year or early this year.... but yep, I adore that Frances O'Connor one too. I am rather wary of BP, but we'll watch and then judge!! And heh, I was definitely wary of KK too, but I think she grew on me. Plus Frances O'Connor is Australian, and she was in an independant film back in the day which was shot at the uni that I go to!!

I need more period drama icons!!

Ha, why don't you come over then? I think it's about time you started weaving sentences like "Hey, know who's got GREAT universities? Switzerland!" into everyday conversations with your brother. I mean, San Diego is alright, but Zurich would be SO MUCH BETTER.

I saw most of those new ones on sale when I was in the UK in February and I STILL couldn't get myself to buy that one with BP. Or you know, any of them. I just love the old ones so much.

Me too!

Heee! Because Australia is the place with the tv channel showing the films!! It makes much more sense for you to bring your huge, yet to be delivered still, tv here, right? And heeeee, you're right, actually. Should get started on that.

And I am always willing to watch new adapations - it doesn't mean that I won't rewatch the older ones again either!! I remember going through stages of watching all the older BBC versions with no name actors too. I am excited about Rose being back on Doctor Who though...
