I wish I had made a smarter decision last year and had not chosen to do this paper and rather applied for recognition of prior learning to gain points. Exciting times
Looks like I'll be flying home and then Sochi via Hong Kong. YAY, bring it on. Extended deadline and registration fees
I finally got a response from someone regarding the registration fees, which are ridiculously high. They said I'm eligible for a student-member fee if I am a student at the time of attendance and have a membership through the NZ affiliation of AILA, which is Applied Linguistics Association NZ. AILA 2014 abstract and summary
Fudge, it's 3:40 am here and I've just finished this abstract, summary and edited the title. All fits in the required word limit. Submission deadline is tomorrow, but it has to be approved by my supervisor. I just can't believe how much time it took me to finish it. I must say I really battled... I was about to give up and not participate in this congress, cause registration fee is around 700 Australian bucks + obviously flights to Brisbane and staying at a hotel. NZ legalised same-sex marriage yesterday! Hooray kiwis!
I am so incredibly happy to have witnessed the history. NZ, this small country in the Southern Hemisphere, in the South Pacific did it first. I watched the debates on Parliament TV last night and I was simply amazed by how civilised they were and despite ideological differences between Nationals, Labour, Green, NZ First and ACT, MPs had wisdom to ( Read more... ) -

Chapter 2 and 3 are done!
Goodness gracious me, I think now I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel called "dissertation"! Now I need to write a conclusion and start editing everything. 1st chapter submitted
I submitted the 1st chapter very very early this morning. Gosh, it took me so long to finish it. I've put a lot of effort, so I hope my supervisor won't say it sucks :) It is pretty raw, so I will have to revise and edit it. Michelle offered to help with proofreading. I'm busy working on my application and damn, I'm gonna flatter myself now (here, not on the form) - I can really be proud of myself, what I've learned and experienced :) I'm putting a lot of ideas and hope they will appreciate them.
