Endorse Instant Runoff Voting for state and local elections.

Reasons to favor the resolution:

Eleven of thirteen statewide offices elected in Minnesota since 1998 have been decided by less than a majority of voters.

The 2006 election for governor will have three major party candidates plus more candidates from other parties, making likely another ( Read more... )

Instant Runoff Voting is the only way to ensure that every vote counts in every election. This is a fair and impartial way for people to be able to choose and have it be fair. I see it as an uphill battle though as there are those in power who would never have made it to power if there had been instant run off voting... and they will fight to ensure they stay in power.
