Charm Compulsion...

::::I said I would take photos of some of my silver charms that I made - so here is one of them. :0)    I oxidized the silver, to make it look more rustic. For reference, it's larger than a dime, but smaller than a nickel. The necklace has all sorts of different stones in it - Tourmaline, Peridot, Iolite & Venetian Glass. Most of which you can't ( Read more... )

That's good to hear from someone who is a photo pro! :0)

You live near NYC where I'd looove to spend days digging around their bead shops. Do you miss Manhatten -that's where you were before right?

:)

sadly, i'm five hours away from nyc at present...and i miss everything about the metropolitan area. our neighborhoods in manhattan and brooklyn, everything.

austin's supposed to be super-hip, though, right? i imagine there are loads of bead shops there, too.

I can imagine - I'm sure people see just as much as I do about all the things in that area where you lived.

Yeah, it is - very, very different from the rest of Texas. I saw that you wrote about Dallas not long ago, but replying & time got away from me. Lots of eclectic people/places, creativity, cultural things & never ending music in Austin. I'd squawk a bit if I were forced to live in any of the other cities in TX. You would like it here - get the hubby to look at Austin if he job searches again!

Surprisingly, we've only 3 or 4 bead shops in Austin. They're a bit disappointing, so I get most of my things online.

Very nice.
Now I'm wondering how you make the design ?

With this one I used a mold that I made beforehand to form it. Meaning I used something antique to make the design & mold. I've made others where I did carve the actual design. The charm is silver, but not made the traditional metalsmithing way! I've yet to learn that, but really hope to in the future. I'll make up a little post explaining how I did it later on. :0)
