Who doesn't love the way they use the word "Idiot" on House? Seems like they don't just say the word "idiot", these characters practically spit it out. It's always said with absolute conviction and relish, you know? I noticed it from the first episode, when House told that schoolteacher "you're being an IDIOT!" But now everyone does it, not just House. Like Cameron's "House isn't an IDIOT, he's not going to get involved with a married woman" or Wilson's "You're an IDIOT!" at the end of the show.
Ooookay, moving along...
As for the actual episode - I watched over at a friend's house (she has a DVR! MAN, those things are cool!) after drinking two glasses of wine, so I wasn't exactly in a critical mood. Even so, I wasn't all that impressed. The ending to the Stacy arc didn't make much sense to me. On the one hand, I liked the fact that for once, I felt as confused by this House guy as all the characters in the show do. On the other hand: well, it was a cop-out. I only felt confused because his decision to end things with Stacy wasn't built up properly. Like Stacy said - all these months of chasing, only to change his mind when he finally wins her back? The whole storyline was messy, but I didn't mind so much in the past because... erm... I liked watching Hugh Laurie's bedroom eyes. This episode, though, just woke me up to the fact that with a little better continuity on the part of all these episode writers (surely they could have had a powow and avoided the pointless repetitions and odd plotting), this could have been an amazing, sad love story. As it was? Well.... I did love those bedroom eyes.
And even with the messiness and lazy storytelling, I was still moved by it. A testament to Hugh Laurie's fabulousness, I guess!
