So first part of adventure starts in a couple of hours. Made my way down to voidkraken's without incident, inspite of swearing every 10 miles as I kept remembering which things I had forgotten. Although I do find I am much more relaxed once I have worked out what it is I have actually forgotten (as invariably there is always something so the ( Read more... )

Assuming I remember the flight times approximately right, it's about 14 hours outbound (not counting the changeover in Vancouver for 3 hours), and a piddling 20ish hours on th way back (yay headwinds, and I'm not including the time zone change which means we take off early Saturday and land early Sunday).

So not wholly surprised she;s a little twitchy, nervous, panicky, etc. I still seem to have both arms so not *too* nervous I think?

you're going to seattle?! so lucky!

i would imagine the flight wont be more than 9 hours. once you're off the ground, you'll be fine- just concentrate on what free booze you can aquire (cos you get it free on most long haul flights these days) & what movie you wanna watch next :)

i took a 13 hr plane journey on my own a few yrs back. i was terrified at first- but now i remind myself of how easy it was every time i go on a plane & its all ok :)

Ah, the worst thing about long plane journeys is how boring and dull they are.
I recommend you snooze on Voidkraken.

Enjoy Seattle! It's going to be fab.

All the US journeys I've done have been quite interesting...in a way. The in-flight entertainment systems are pretty cool these days (even if the screens can be a bit small), and each passenger gets to choose how and when they view stuff throughout the flight (barring a couple of bits at the start and end). Usually has some decent (and new!) films and music even.

Sleeping is something I'm more likely to do, I'm a strange and peculiar freak who can fall asleep even during takeoff and landing. Also, she has just reminded me that she comes with built-in cushions :P

Well, Julia is big hit with my dad and his partner, although we have a bit of a surprise tomorrow - most of my dad's partner's family (cue memories of Spaceballs...) will be descending for a birthday barbecue tomorrow!

Oops, going now, food hath arrived!
