my thanksgiving break has been lovely if a bit uneventful so far. musically, things are really going to heat up this week and won't quit until post-finals--rehearsals and performances for jazz start this sunday night and extend until the following wednesday; church messiah/lessons and carols rehearsals and performances are similarly scheduled. on ( Read more... )

You have two loverly friends who live very close to New York that might like to go. Plus my B-day is just 5 days after that so it might be a great gift...for me...from me. Hm... I'll let Derek know. Why aren't you going?

Originally, Jan. 2 was supposed to be Idina Menzel's last show. Tracy and I were totally PSYCHED about seeing her last show, so we bought tickets even though we already had tickets in much better seats (2nd row orchestra) for another day during our trip. Then that bitch Idina extended her contract by a WEEK and thus ruined our plans of seeing her last performance ever. So...since then, Tracy and I have been a little short for cash what with buying round-trip tickets to NYC, and we decided to try and sell our seats to the Jan. 2 show to help us funding-wise.

Jazz is singing a (of course, jazzy) Mark Chilla arrangement of The Christmas Song, which is very nice, and also a UNCJazz Winter Wonderland.
I do not secretly love the Rutter Gloria, although I might if Concert Choir didn't suck. I am a fan of the trio section, however. We are not having organ; instead we are opting for the orchestra score, which no one in the entire world has ever heard before. As far as the tickets go, they are on eBay, and the bidding ends, like, tomorrow or sometime ridiculously soon. I don't know what the bid is up to, but my username is pink_elephant_music11 so you can go search for the item I am selling. If you don't end up getting mine, there are a TON for sale on eBay for not a ton of money; you guys should totally check it out.
