I bought an air conditioner to go in the bedroom window (so we can sleep), and got it home and realized it was made to be put in a window that slides up and down, and the top part of the window sliding down onto it is a big part of what holds it in place

Ughhhh that problem!

You can turn it on it's side and use plywood or something sturdy to block up the window. Yes it sounds as ghetto as it looks.
