I SHOULD have been working on the "An Improper Arrangement" story. I've been neglecting it. (I've been neglecting everything. I haven't been well.)

But she was telling me about an obscure-fandoms fest or meme or SOME damn thing, and how someone had requested Major Edrington/Georgiana Darcy.

Which... no. If you put P&P in 1813, he's MUCH too old for ( Read more... )

Oh, I can so see poor Darcy as a teenager. I can imagine him standing a little way off from the others, lonely, but covering it with a snooty 'I-don't-care'.

Of course Edrington would see through that. Snoot does not scare him. He can snoot right back himself if it comes to that.

Your Edrington is a good man, down to the core. This was a pleasure to read.

I am glad you are feeling better.

I just realized the ages are wrong on this TOO, if I keep it in 1813, and keep that Edrington was at Quiberon. That makes him & Darcy very much NOT the same age. Well. Handwaving.

I was actually picturing a standoffish 11-year-old Darcy, as that's the age of an English public school first-year... like Hogwarts, though for them I'm sure it was Eton or Harrow. Darcy as a young Snape (though without the class issues).

It turns out I'm going to be in NYC on Monday -- for Jeopardy tryouts! I'm not sure exactly how long they'll last, but shall I call you when I'm there and maybe we can get together for a little while?
