The cover is lovely. Thorne looks very stern, which is his protective of his insides face. I am going to order it up on Friday, which is the soonest I am able.
So excited for you! This is a wonderful thing.
BTW there is some chance of me being in Ct. over the upcoming weekend. I am not sure-- but maybe. Any chance of getting a visit in?
Still trying to work out the details. I will know more by tomorrow night. Being able to see you, if even for an hour or two would sweeten a trip to MIL's, to the point of making it something I really would look forward to!
Right now my daughter is making me want to rip my hair out. I am inclined to send her to sea!
OMG, congrats!!! I mean, I knew it was coming and all, but it's a whole different thing to actually see the cover art, pre-order page, etc. And speaking of which, the cover design is gorgeous - you were right, the ship is totally Geoff Hunt-worthy, and they even managed to work in the red & blue color scheme!
Pre-ordering this like whoa as soon as I can scrape the dough together. August 2 can't come soon enough!
(Oh, and it's always nice to hear from Birtwhistle and Godwin - d'awww, godfathers!)
Alexander Godwin is one of the godfathers, but Birtwhistle isn't. I didn't name the other one, but I'm pretty sure it'd be a relative - given the dearth of male kin on Rockingham's side, it's probably one of the Filmers.
Oops, you'd think that, as an English Lit major, my reading comprehension would be a little better. XD
Still, though, Alexander the godfather is all kinds of adorable! As, of course, is Rockingham naming him godfather in the first place - the relationship between these two is something I always love to see explored.
It's not the same relationship that Certain Sources Of Inspiration have in a story that influenced me a lot, but it is a friendship that goes pretty deep. They learned to respect each other and trust each other under very trying circumstances, and it could have turned out very differently, but there are things that they both know that they don't ever have to explain to each other, and that counts for a lot.
