As I sit here riding the bus around Bagram Air Field, I see in the distance through the fence a line of mountains. I cannot help but notice that they are much smaller than the ones in Gardez, where I have spent the last three months of my tour in Afghanistan. The air is much dirtier, too, as behind these mountains the sky is grey with smog
