Republican rallies have adopted an increasingly incendiary tone towards Barack Obama, with shouts of "kill him", "treason" and "terrorist" interrupting speeches by John McCain and Sarah Palin.

mccain (and palin) only said something after a week's worth of press coverage and editorials lambasting them for not saying something. too little, too late. this kind of thing should have been dealt with firmly at the first sign.

i don't disagree, but i don't think he's quite as sinister as all that. i think he simply didn't know how to handle that before (and palin couldn't write her name without a script at this point). i think they've courted this ugly aspect of america, and now they're getting a good look at it.

My aunt is firmly in the "Obama is a terrorist because he's a Muslim" camp.

It kind of makes me wonder how she's lived in Dearborn for three or four decades now.
