Life's been a little crazy lately. Tim, his girlfriend Natalie and I moved into an apartment a couple blocks off Broadway and Commercial and we're still in the process of unpacking (their stuff) and finding a place for (all of their) things, a glacially-slow venture which seems to take two steps forward and one step back on a daily basis. Knowing nothing about computers and with zero background in programming, I decided to go completely open source last spring. I've been slowly giving myself a survival course in Linux. It's been a long road, but I'm sort of at a point where I can make things happen when and how I want to.

Last night I moved in with some guys with a modem/router whose firewall is almost completely incompatible with Linux. I need to go into the card and customize ports and shit, but I'm not completely sure if I know how or if the guy will let me.

Not exactly relevant, I guess I'm just trolling for sympathy...

You've got my sympathy for sure. The great thing about Linux is that once you have something figured out, it usually stays that way forever. The unfortunate thing about it is that it can take you forever to work that one thing out, and it doesn't handle changes on the fly very well ( ... )
