I hear you! My new favorite, NBC's Chase, also got canceled, after 19 episodes. I think the last four were filmed after they knew, which gave them time for re-writes to wrap things up a little more. They ended up shoving one of the UST couples together faster than I thought they should, but overall, I was just sad to see another interesting, well-plotted show full of strong women and three-dimensional POCs bite the dust.
...well-plotted show full of strong women and three-dimensional POCs... And yet you still watch Supernatural... (I kid!)
Similar thing here- I think they rushed the reunion of one couple, but I think they'd have worked things out eventually. But with the show as a whole, they really just tied things up in a way that leaves me wondering how long they were going for. This show was created by the same guy behind The Shield, which I loved. It ended well- like a chapter, not a last page. A fairly big side plot involving getting a serial killer to confess wasn't resolved, but the detective's last words on the show were "I can crack him, I just need time." You knew there were more criminals to catch, more cops to train, more bureaucrats to love to hate, etc. The Chicago Code just stopped without any of that.
