ah! i agree. it makes me insanely elated that someone else recognizes the genuis that is jon brion. most find his music creepy, and too "lsd-like". you my friend, are a smart cookie.
if you haven't heard it yet...i'd recommend the amelie soundtrack. yann tiersen is such a fabulous pianist...and musician in general. as for literature and such...an invisible sign of my own by aimee bender is great...and so are any poems by emmy hennings...even tho they are pretty difficult to find.
ohh i will definitely get that! i love the music in the film
i really like this:
To you it's as if I was already Marked and waiting on Death's list. It keeps me safe from many sins. How slowly life drains out of me. My steps are often steeped in gloom, My heart beats in a sickly way And it gets weaker every day. A death angel stands in the middle of my room. Yet I dance till I'm out of breath. Soon lying in the grave I'll be And no one will snuggle up to me. Oh, give me kisses up till death.
a book: waiting for godot, it's actually a play but i'm reading it for english now and i'm really enjoying it
a song: old orchard beach by the magnetic fields and i am trying to break your heart by wilco they're just 2 songs i've been really into lately
a poem: anything by e.e. cummings, i just love his work
a story: deer in the works by kurt vonnegut, satirical mastermind
a film: well i already know you are a fan of the genius that is alfred hitchcock as i am. but i would also recommend you take in an old silent film, especially one starring harold lloyd (try girl shy)he's an amazing physical comedian and you'll be impressed with the amazing film work of so early a time period
a painting: rapaele head, exploding by salvador dali he's an amazing artist and this work really demonstrates how i feel sometimes
oooh i should read waiting for godot again, i read it 2002-fall with mrs. catrillo but in the rush of applications and such i didn't absorb it as well, i love e.e. cummings too :) i still have so many of his poems i've yet to read though! i haven't read any vonnegaut! thankyou so much for recommending that one, and the silent film is a fantastic idea, i've really never watched an entire one, i really love what i've seen of salvador dali, my exboyfriend adam really liked him and had numerous prints in his room but i have never seen that one!! god it's amazing, i feel like this sometimes too
Go to Portland.. when its a nice day. Walk across the bridge to New Jersey. And there's a store there that's stuck in the 70's/80's. They sell real 80's stuff.. not urban outfitter whathaveyous, and there's these guy shorts there that run under the name "Mr. Legs" and they are tight cutoffs and hilarious and will brighten up the worst of days <3

i discovered him through Magnolia, and then I realized that he produced some of my favorite records and worked with some of my favorite artists!
there is an amazing discography here:

it just goes to show you how much the man gets around!
