My Recital! - Last call!

RECITAL IN LOS ANGELES

If any of you live in or near LA: I'm going to be singing my first solo voice recital on Saturday, May 14th at 7:30pm at a church near Pico and La Brea. I'll be singing opera arias, art songs, and a few musical theater pieces. There will also be refreshments following the performance and we could hang out and chat for a while

Awe, I wish I lived near you, 'cause I'd totally go!!! Unfortunately I am out here on the other side of the country.

That is one BIG recital. There are some really great works in there. Make sure you've got the stamina to do that whole program without getting vocally tired. If you feel like its too much, cut out a piece or two.

Thanks, Pam! Yeah, it's huge. I've been trying to run it in its entirety every other day to make sure I'm ready to do it on the actual day of the performance. I am definitely recording it and will post it afterwards!

Eh, I've been better. This thyroid thing and all the medicines they have me on is definately wearing on me. I'm probably going to have to spend most of this month at home resting until the medicine kicks in :(
First they said it wasn't Graves Disease, now they say it is, blah blah blah, I'd just really like to be healthy.

But hey, I got into graduate school, and that was the major thing stressing me out this whole past year, so I triumphed over one obstacle, and now onto another!

This sounds like it's going to be an awesome recital! I can't believe you're singing so much music -- you must have a lot of vocal stamina. Of course, I guess people sing Wagner operas, so... :) If I lived in LA I would definitely be there.

Haha yeah...no Wagner for me for like another 50 years (okay maybe more like 20)...but yeah it's definitely a long program. I definitely get tired when it's over but I seem to be doing okay with it. Thanks for wanting to come. If I lived in NYC I'd have come to yours, too =)

You know, I'm going to be in LA shortly thereafter - I come in on June 5th or somewhere around there and will be there till the end of July. I would love to actually meet you and exchange recital recordings, scores, and thoughts on music in general! Will you be around any time during that period?

That sounds wonderful! Yes, I will actually be in LA until late June so we could definitely meet up in early or mid June. I'm so excited to get to meet you!
