Wow- what an awesome opportunity you had, to study with the principal flutist! Seeing Fleming and the opera singers must have been really fun. I've actually met her, myself. But this was far more exciting: a really good friend of mine won a chance to spend 4 days with Fleming so that was definitely incredibly exciting for all of us (this was two years ago). Ah, Fleming... lol.

Her book is truly incredible. I read it twice and am now rereading select parts of it and taking notes. It's well worth the money and I would definitely order it if I were you. It's not about imitation and you have to take it all with a grain of salt as things are different (vocally and otherwise) for every singer, but sometimes when you can have a better sense for how and what successful (and incredibly sensitive and intutitive, in Fleming's case) professional opera singers think, it improves your singing. In any case, it was very helpful to me. Good luck!
Hi! I finally listened to your recent recital, and I must say that I am incredibly impressed. Wow!!! I wish I could sing half as well as you can...
My favorites included the Rachmaninov selections (I'm a big fan of his music in general, but the fact that I miss Russia and thus doubly appreciate all things Russian also influenced my opinion) and, from the musical theater selections, "I Could Have Danced All Night."
I wish you the best of luck with your singing this summer!
