Rachel Maddow pwns David Frum (former Bush speech writer)Now don't get me wrong. I wouldn't piss on any pundit if they were in LA burning right now. But I like Rachel. Unlike Raging Bull Keith, I believe she has a place in mainstream media in an Obama administration-filibuster free Democratic Senate. Keith doesn't. Who will he rage against then? ( Read more... )

I've been a fan of Rachel for well over a year now and she totally pwned that guy. I appreciate the fact that she can successfully criticize some GOP tactics while also calling out bullshit on the side she clearly supports. I have a lot of respect for her and basically she's my favorite lezzie on cable news.

As as much as I like Keith, I really do wonder what he'll do if Obama comes into office. There are still plenty of GOP folks he can make spittle about but it won't be the same.

The point is not that she pawned Frum or not. The point is, her show shouldn't be about pwning. Presumably she invited Frum to talk about the misfortunes of the McCain campaign, not the ethical stance of her show.

I think she had a right to defend her show though. I mean, he's the one who had a go at it. I was genuinely interested in his criticism of the McCain camp but then he had to take a dig at her show? I sincerely hope that if he's on any other cable news show he gives them the same criticism he gave her because you can apply what he said to plenty of other programs.

You're setting the standard based on how certain others operate. Rachel's show isn't polemical. Yes, she has a point of view and yes, she has no qualms of expressing it, and yes, she has every right to do so. And those are still not the point.

She can be tough with her questioning. "Why did McCain said so and so" or "Don't you feel you are partly responsible for creating this toxic political environment by taking part in Bush's campaign" or "Did you have sex with that woman". I'm not objecting to that.

What I am objecting to is introducing sarcasm into a what needs to be a serious interview. You can expect to get logical answers if you start the conversation with "Haha stupid Republicans".

Tbh, I'm not sure I wouldn't react pretty much the same way were I in Frum's place, and I doubt you would either, were you being introduced the same way if you were a guest on, say, O'Reilly.

anyway, no matter how doom gloom any economist is right now, everyone is sure about one thing... eventually it'll get better. so if you slit your wrist now, you'll miss the part about it getting better. sure it took Japan the better part of a decade to get out of their mess in the 90s but hey, at least you know it'll get better!
