A week ago last Wednesday, Pseudomammal and I got all spontaneous, and decided to drive to New York the next day.

The funny thing is, it worked. We got up Thursday morning and walked to a certain car rental agency. After a great deal of needless bureaucracy and a monumental favor from a certain Pairodox, we had temporarily in our possession a powder blue ( Read more... )

Ye gods, do I hate you. ;P
If I hadn't blown all my vacation having my internal organs rearranged, I was going to go to HOPE.
Ahwell, there's always next year. :D

Actually, the conference is every two years.
(At least it's 10 months off from the marine mammal conference, which is also every two years. And CO3 is every year.)

Slashdot readers/posters make fun of 2600, and 2600 readers/posters make fun of slashdot, and while it's easy to make fun of both ~publications, I think they have more in common than not.

I suggest reading Blacklisted: 411, and making fun of both. ;)

What?! you drove through Georgia and didn't stop and see me?

Seriously, I could use some assurance that good people really exist other than as letters on my screen.

That sounds like an awesome trip.

Aww. I have a "full time job" that I had to take off from to go (yes, Dr. Baskin gave me official permission off at the last minute ... I actually called her house at night to ask for it ... I was totally responsibly irresponsible), but we were still pressed for time. What with the ~25 hours of driving each way, wanting to make it to the conference, the rental car agency wanting their car back ... we couldn't have done justice to a visit with you.

Yeah, I know. And even if you could have, my schedule would probably have interfered. Oh well; one of these years I'll make it to Quo Vadis, or at least out visiting.

I think Slashdot and 2600 need equal making fun of.

But then I'm the sort who just likes toying with fun code...
