There's a place for you in all of this...and in the parts not described herein, like the Long Pull, the Short Pull, MoonSong, SunBeat and Morning Prayer. Have you not been to Stones before, or not been in a long time? Have some kind of weirdness with someone who still goes? Lay it all at the feet of the Stones and come on in! There's a place for ( Read more... )

Although the kids and I can't get there until Friday evening because of their school schedule, I'll be involved both Friday and Saturday nights in a divinatory nature, and perhaps 17-year old Jonathan will be able to pull his first stone this year! (Doubt I'll be able to, sadly, with my shoulder issues, but I'll be there to watch, cheer and support of course!!)

Here's a question for you, dear one...what color tribe should I, as a seer/oracle, fall into? Am I a healer (of the psyche)? A preparer? In my true Libra fashion, I haven't been able to decide/figure that one out...sigh.

How about the kids? Jonathan may be helping us with the Labyrinth ritual Friday night and may pull a stone or two or none...I don't know. Leah, at 13, is probably too young to be more than peripherally involved with any stone pulling and since she's not a part of Holly's Spiral Scouts, I'm not sure what the policy is there for her to be involved with anything going on with that group. So I'm guessing her role would be that of witness...?

i would love LOVE to have leah saturday night with the corn mothers!!! if she is interested.

this year i will encourage the corn mothers to not only keep vigil in the kitchen with the loaves, but to also take mini breaks and go dance, drum, visit the warriors, make prayer at their tribe's altars, rest, etc. i think mini breaks serve a purpose of gathering tribal energies from all the vigils that we can bring back and knead into the bread.

i also want to encourage those who may not be able to make it the whole night to come and bake bread with us for as long as they can. even if it is for only a short visit to give us a blessing.

so, ya... ask leah if she is interested in coming to the kitchen saturday night for a bit, or the whole night!

Leah would love to help with the Corn Mothers and with you, Em! The whole idea of Corn Mothers kneading, baking all night long Saturday and then feeding the tribes the product of their loving labor on Sunday appealed to her very much (and she loves you to pieces, which is important, too)! So yes, count her in as a Corn Mother ( ... )

yes, corn mothers are of the green tribe, but not necesarilly. i know that is confusing.

the green tribe is for the folks that sustain the work of four quarters and the work done at stones rising. the corn mothers fall under that category.

however.... folk from other tribes besides the green tribe can certainly keep vigil with the corn mothers.

i believe that one chooses a tribe based on their overall "purpose" (for lack of a better word). but can choose whichever vigil(s) they are called to.

for example... if i am in the choir, finding my purpose in singing... i would prolly join the water tribe. yet i would still be able to keep vigil with the corn mothers. or... say i am a photographer and am in the green tribe, i can dance my vigil, even though dancers fall under the east/air tribe.

so, leah is so so welcome to keep vigil with the cornmothers. she is also welcome to join the green/earth tribe, if she feels her main purpose/vocation is to sustain the land/people/energy of SR07.

hope that make sense!
