Happy February

This day did not get off to a good start. Feb. 1st was the date they sent us for my daughter's appointment at the juvenile court to get her driver's license handed over to her by the judge. The postcard set the appointment at 8:30 am and said that if you were late you would not be admitted to the courtroom. Well, I didn't remember our appointment

Well, winning a Printz honor probably allows an author to be the exception to the rule.

I've missed dentist appointments because I didn't check my calendar early enough in the morning. I hope your daughter tries to be understanding. And after all, wasn't it really HER appointment? I'd think she would try to keep track herself. :)

Exactly what we were trying to tell her; that it was HER appointment! It turns out all the proceedings at the court were cancelled today due to the bad weather that was supposed to come but never did--she found that out when she got to school and friends of her who were supposed to get their licenses too were turned away at the door. So we didn't really miss a thing!

Oh, I thought I read somewhere that it was your pen name. Or maybe that it wasn't your given name at birth. Whichever, it's a great name to have on a kid's book!
