Rowling's Regrets

Ok, I have to write about this.

I went on Facebook a while ago to find that J.K. Rowling was the top trending topic.  When I saw the reason, I got really still for a moment and tried desperately to figure out if I'd gone crazy (or had time traveled)...because seeing such news must mean it's April Fool's Day, right?

I just got from it that at one point she said Hermione was based on her and the whole wish fulfillment thing was...basically her saying she found Ron more appealing romantically than Harry, or perhaps that Ron was based on someone she knew and had a crush on that it didn't work out with?? But I think a lot of fictional relationships come from personal, wish fulfillment places and I don't think it's necessarily bad. But yeah I do see her more with Harry. There was something in one of the books where she seemed jealous of him talking to another girl but I can't remember the context at all!I can see Harry and Hermione together, maybe both being Aurors, maybe having kids, maybe not. The whole epilogue was irritating.

I did really ship Harry/Luna and still do, but at the same time I don't know if I can see it being endgame. But I can see them staying in touch and having a deep friendship.

I have read the books much later than many people when I was already very much an adult. The relationships (romantic ones) never were as important to me as the story. I can't say it really mattered to me ho would end up with whom. It would have been fine to me if they'd only stayed friends in the end. Overall, though, I found the Harry/Luna route quite interesting.

I think it's quite interesting and courageous of her to speak up, especially considering some rather vocal fan groups. In the end, though, it's her creation and she has every right to change her opinion. I really don't get the people who have to keep arguing why one is is 'better' than the other. That's why different opinions exist and it's good like this.

really well said. I too think she's brave to say anything about it.

I hate ship wars. Like omg people. Stop.

I remember years ago Joss Whedon said that Ron & Hermione wouldn't have made it as a couple because they wouldn't have made each other happy or even content at all. .... .... ... lol.

I personally don't think Hermione would have dated Ron or Harry. Maybe one of the other Weasleys or she'd meet someone new. Meh. I like the idea of Harry/Ginny and I think they make a legit couple; they'd have to work on it, but they'd do.
