This seems kind of strange. In New Jersey - Option 2 is pretty standard. You go in to a teacher ed program to get your cert. That parogram has you x amount of credits and then you student teaching where you get placed with a school. The university sets all that up for you.

I have alot of friends who have gone through the teacher ed program here and in NY.

In addition while it is great to get the masters, some distrcts (and i don't know it works in other states) will help you pay for it or they will give you a boost in salery.

Though really it depends on how soon you want to graduate and how badly you need a job.
