Major notes on names.
I wasted probably an hour trying to figure out those dolls' names. Some came right away, others took forever, mostly because I didn't like the names that first popped into my head. Let's take Marcus, for instance. His name came to me as soon as I took him out the box. But when I think Marcus I mostly think Underworld (but with a "k"). Then there's Terminator Salvation's Marcus, which I adore. Eventually I had to give up 'cause nothing else fitted him anyway. Which meant I also had to give up on Victor which came to me once I'd settled on Marcus. Clea was even harder and I think I settled on this one just 'cause it rhymed with Monica.
The moms weren't all that easier... because I needed mom names. So who's a good TV mom? I had taken Allison already and in itself I don't like the name Haley all that much. I was never a fan of Joyce and most definitely don't like that name. For some reason I thought of Piper Halliwell and really that should have solved my problem instantly. 4 grown-up names starting with "P"! But only Piper was a mom and a good one at that so eventually I picked the actress's name instead. So I needed another TV mom and thought of Monica Geller. We didn't get to see her play mom a lot but somehow it fit and after much hair pulling I had 6 new names. 'Cause Betty was the easiest. With her little plastic apron to give the babies a bath she's the perfect epitome of a 50s' wife and who better than Betty Draper could represent that?
