Cool article from Wired about why video games are good for you

I feel like my LJ is totally boring because it's all about moving right now.  How entertaining can boxes be?  Most of the kitchen is done, though, the entire bathroom is done, now it's just closet and dressers and we will be ready, I think.  Then comes the nasty azz cleaning.  Urgh.

Ooh...I am very good at decorating on a budget. If you can't paint, there are a couple of things you can do.

Use a lot of color elsewhere...curtains, posters, table cloths, even your furniture if you're really bold. Posters make cheap artwork, and you get get cheap frames for them to "dress them up." art.com has a ton of stuff, prints, posters, etc, that are quite reasonably priced, both framed and unframed.

You can use furniture placement to break up the boxiness. Think diagonal, think room dividing placement, think area rugs (which are also good for bringing in color), think open bookcases that can be placed to break up the space visually, and used to display not only books, but colorful "pieces"....like vases, plants, etc. Plants are another good way to bring in color and break up space, especially if you can hang them.

I love to decorate, it's a secret passion of mine. :-)

Haha...bookcases not used for books...bwahahahaha...as if we could ever afford to waste shelf space on anything but books. 80% of all the boxes we're moving are full of books. ;-)

Oh trust me, I'm entirely familiar with that problem. I got rid of probably 2 dozen cartons of books before I relocated here to Colorado, and my basement is still full of cartons of books. Future move tip: Books are HEAVY and cost a lot to have movers move. If you're not doing the move yourself at least try to move your own books, it will save you a mint.

Hell, the book moving is the only reason we're getting movers in the first place! If we didn't have them we'd be doing it ourselves, easy as pie. But we need burly men with dollies and a big truck with big wheels so the books don't pop the tires!
