And so, I stand at a strange crossroad. . .

Utica is considering laying off 40 teachers next school year which means that even if some teachers take a buyout there will probably not be a job for me next fall either.

So, I need to make a decision . . .should I move away and look for employment out of state?

With that there is a lot at stake . . .

have you applied in other districts besides Utica? because there could be possibilities there - districts around here, or even ones tht are like an hour or so away - michigan's teaching job market blows,

Yes, I have applied every where . . .the problem is Utica has been my main focus . . .because I heard they like to see that. Now, though, it's kinda put me in a difficult place!! I'm still praying about it . . .and waiting . . .we'll see!

Ok, you know I have strong feelings about this subject! It is very hard to find a job in this area, despite what anyone tells you. I hate to be a downer, but I know! Ok, have you thought about teaching in a private school? I know it doesn't pay anywhere near what public schools do, but you would enjoy it, I'm sure. What about looking at churchs, to see about camps/classes/mentoring? Again, the money isn't there. I'd hate for you to move out of the area for a job. Especially because you have everyone here. I will pray for you during this difficult time. I know it is a hard decision. You are not alone in your thinking.

I am soooo glad I have you!! Most people really don't get it . . .not until they are in my position . . .it's easy to say sure I'll apply everywhere, but that doesn't mean it'll work. I've done that . . .but so have a zillion other people.

I will probably start looking into private and charter next year . . .although that's kind of a scary thought too. I'd probably lean more toward private if you don't know why . . .I'll explain later!

I think I might not start my masters in january like I planned originally because what good will that do if I do move out of state?

It's just a hard decision and I feel like I'm making it on my own. I almost wish I had a peace about it from God or another person to tell me what to do!
