I ate a bit too much for lunch and dinner today and paid the price intestine-wise. I had diverticulosis and irritable bowel syndrome prior to pregnancy, and although things have actually been better while I've been pregnant, I still have occasional bad days. Today was the worst by far. There was some involuntary straining involved and the ( Read more... )

I hope you feel better for sure! I've had nothing but poop issues for the last 9 months, and I can't wait to get this over with so I can get all the scoping and surgeries and everything else started up again. =p

I'll keep my fingers crossed for ya as well that he stays a little longer! I'm hoping the little one holds off another week or so... I'm 36 tomorrow, I'd be happy to hit 37!

My issues aren't even a patch on what you've had to go through! I have so much empathy for you and have my fingers crossed that things are much better for you very soon.

I also have diverticulosis and every few days i have been taking a colace pill to keep everything soft and moving... Before I started that, I really would get tender spots where I am pretty sure my bowel is. Especially since they have me supplementing with Iron. I still get really uncomfortable and sometimes nausious when I need to go and sometimes it is still firmer than I would like, but everything is moving regularly without fever or blood. Have you figured out your triggers yet? Mine is corn, any kind of corn or corn product. No more tortilla chips and salsa for me...just not worth the pain - although I have made my own flour tortilla chips at home and that works pretty well.

I'm fortunate that I don't have any specific foods that set things off, for the most part. Caffeine, of course, can set me off diarrhea-wise, but other than lack of enough fiber in my diet, nothing is really more constipating than anything else. I eat a huge amount of fruit and Fiber One cereal, so as long as I don't miss too many days I don't end up with the painful colon spasms... Usually. ;-)
