You guys, this grad school shit is time-consuming. I love the subject matter--even the class with the professor who's a TOTAL QUACK. And the econ. Ohhhh the econ. Today, during the class break, I asked my professor a question about the homework. And I discovered that I don't understand econ with the graphs and he can't explain it without them

Being 3,000 miles from my own dog, I couldn't even watch the vid. My dog actually waits for me to get home and then runs to the bedroom, looking back over his shoulder that I'm coming and gets up on the bed and insists I spoon him.... and now I AM crying... because it was a shitty day here in grad land too...

But I totally get your English v. graphs. I had an intellectual property prof who could only teach in graphs and circles and shit - and I just do NOT think that way. We were like oil and water.... She actually told me she'd write a shitty letter for grad school for me if I asked her to be a reference... such a long story... but yeah. Crazies in every faculty I'm afraid....

That's actually a bad professor period. I'm pretty sure this guy at least appreciates the fact that I'm making an effort, even if I don't do all that well in the class. She sounds like a dick.

She is a total steel-plated Dick. I've had opportunity to be privy to a number of deparments - both as a student and as a faculty member - and I have to say that with the exception of the Director of the last department I worked in (she was also a dick and a lazy excuse for the worst kind of academic) law profs have the highest ratio of dickness... they don't give a rat's ass if you are trying. In discussing my rather poor showing on my first set of final exams with the academic Dean of the law school, I mentioned that my mother had had open heart surgery in the middle of my exams and passed away the day after I wrote my last exam - yes, the entire week was will she/won't she... His response? A blank look. Not even a "I'm sorry for your loss".... yep. If you are looking for a dick... try the local law faculty. That said - I am liking the faculty at this law school a whole lot better so far....
