One Saturn mystery solved, and another begins . . .

So, you may recall that a couple of weeks ago, I sent the registration renewal on my Saturn. I got the new sticker today, and went down to slap the "2010" sticker over the old "2009" one. You might have been driving with the "valet key," which does not open the trunk. The "spare" is the real key.

Except that the "Spare" is an exact duplicate of the real key I had made at Home Depot years ago. So, that's not it.

Are you able to start the car with the "seldom-used spare key?"

My former vehicle, the 1991 Ford Taurus affectionately known as "POS," had two keys - one that only started the car and opened the doors, and another that only opened the trunk. Their functions were mutually exclusive.

The "valet key" theory is also fully valid, though.

I haven't tried to start it, but the spare key is a duplicate I had made at Home Depot several years ago.
