Sam had just woken up from a long nights sleep and was well rested. He looked over to see Dean curled up in the blanket he tossed over at him the night before and laughed at the sight.
He decided he had better get his things ready since he always took longer than Dean and got up and stumbled to the bathroom letting his clothes fall off of him as he walked.
When he got to the bathroom he looked in the mirror and combed his hair back with his fingers, looking into his own eyes, thinking 'Why am I doing this? Why am I here with Dean? Why does he want me here?'
He shook the thoughts from his head and stepped into the shower and washed up quickly.
Once he was done he came out of the bathroom and dug through his bag and realized he had no clean jeans so he snuck into Deans bag and pulled on a pair of his. They were tighter around the crotch but that's ok because he knew they were going to do laundry later on.
He tossed the dirty laundry into his bag and threw a pillow at Dean, smacking him right in the face.
Dean woke up and gave him a dirty look.
"What the hell, man?" he said as he sat up and threw the pillow back.
"Get up, take a shower and get ready to go. We need to get out of here if we want to go check out that case in Wyoming." Sam said as he grabbed the keys to the Impala. "I'm going to go get some coffee so I'll be back in 15 minutes, ok."
"Yeah yeah yeah" Dean said as he got up and slugged his way to the bathroom.
Sam walked out the door and over to the Impala thinking about the girl he had met a while ago in Wyoming. She was such an amazing girl. She had short hair and always laughed at Sam and Dean when they called each other bitch and jerk.
He loved that about her.
He climbed into the Impala and drove to the cafe a few blocks down, got two black coffees and drove back.
On his way to the motel, his phone rang and as he looked at the caller ID he got excited.
It was her.
It was Casey.
He answered his phone and said "Hello beautiful."
"Hi Sam. Bad news. A friend of mine came into town to visit so right now wouldn't be the best time to visit. I'm really sorry." Casey spoke into the phone.
"Oh I don't think so. Not this time, Casey. We're still coming. Maybe Dean can hang out with your friend. I haven't seen you in a long time and I miss you." Sam replied with a bit of annoyance in his voice.
"Are you sure that's a good idea, Sam?" Casey hesitated "Dean never seemed like a blind date kind of guy."
"He'll be fine. He thinks there's a case over your way. Thats the only reason he agreed to go over there." Sam explained as he turned the key to the motel room.
"Ok. As long as you're sure there won't be a fight or anything." Casey said wearily.
"Like I said, it'll be fine. I'll see you when we get there." He said and closed his phone.
Sam walked over to the table and sat the coffees on the edge and banged on the bathroom door.
"You alive in there, Sleeping Beauty?" He called into Dean.
No Answer.
He opened the door to reveal a sleeping Dean leaning on the shower wall.
He turned the cold water on full blast and yelled "DEMON! DEMON! RED ALERT! LETS GO!"
Dean woke up in a frenzy and slipped and fell, hitting his head on the wall as Sam watched and laughed.
"So not cool." Dean said as he rubbed the back of his head. "And why were you watching me shower anyways? Some kind of creepy turn on for you?"
"Yup. I'm into the whole brotherly incest thing now. It's the cool new thing after tumblr." He told Dean as he sipped his coffee.
"Yeah whatever. Take my jeans off. You have your own." Dean said coldly while he covered himself in a towel.
"No, I need to wash some of my jeans. It's not for long." Sam told him.
"Fine. But don't get shit stains in them." Dean said sarcastically. "Those are one of my better pairs."
Sam thought for a minute and simply said "Ew."
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After Dean was done packing all his stuff and they secured all of their weapons in the trunk, they got in the Impala and started on their journey to Wyoming, where Dean had no idea what Sam had in store for him.
Sam and Dean kept quiet most of the trip and Dean got suspicious after a few hours of Sam not wanting to hug or share feelings. So he of course made a witty remark.
"What? You don't want to hold hands or cuddle? You're usually more talkative and want to make me do stupid heart to hearts." He said as Sam just looked at him with a creeped out look on his face.
"We're just going on a small case Dean. There's nothing to talk about. And besides that, you wouldn't talk even if I tried. I can't force you to talk about what happened in hell." Sam said with a bit of an attitude.
Dean thought for a second and then pulled over the car.
"There is no case... is there?" He asked.
"Yeah, there is." Sam said nervously.
"Wheres the details, Sam? I haven't seen a single missing persons file or a death certificate while you've been talking about Wyoming. What's in Wyoming? Because if you don't tell me the truth, I'm turning around and we're going to Bobby's for a real case." Dean threatened with a serious look on his face.
Sam shifted in his seat "Ok I'll tell you the truth. But don't get mad." He examined Dean's face, before continuing. "I have a friend in Wyoming. I haven't seen her in a long time and I miss her. She has a friend with her though, so you can just hang out with her while we spend some time together." He said as he expected the worst.
"Ok. I'm ok with that." Dean said to Sam's surprise.
"Really? You're ok with it?" Sam asked.
"Yeah. It's cool. I mean, we've been doing this for a while. We deserve some time off. And if any huge cases pop up, Bobby has our number." Dean said as he pulled off onto the highway again.
"Wow. Thanks Dean." Sam said as he turned back to his original position in his seat.
"Is her friend cute?" Dean asked as he smirked over at Sam.
Sam laughed and shook his head.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When they got to the Wyoming state line Sam decided he had better call Casey. They were only about an hour and a half from where she lived, so he wanted to be sure she was still up to seeing him.
The phone rang twice then she picked up "Hello?"
"Hey. Just wanted to let you know we're about an hour and a half from you. You're at home right?" He said into the phone.
"Yup. Sittin' here with Jayne. Waiting for bitch and jerk to show up and sweep us off our feet." She said and laughed.
Sam laughed along with her as he looked over at Dean and pointed for him to turn on Logan Street. "Well, we'll be there soon. Get ready." He smiled at himself and flipped the phone closed.
"You're such a girl." Dean said as he gave Sam the most serious look he could pull off.
"Thanks?" Sam said before he shoved his phone into his pocket.
They continued driving on the same street for what seemed like hours and hours on end. Sam couldn't wait to see Casey again. He couldn't get the picture of her out of his head. Full figured, green eyed, short haired and the most amazing laugh he had ever heard. He chucked when he thought of the time she tickled him so much he fell off the dock by the lake last time he visited.
It's those memories that made him miss her the most. That made him come back to her again and again.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
They made it to Casey's town and he pulled out his phone once again, dialing her number, knowing it by heart.
When she picked up, he told her they were less then 10 minutes away and to get ready for a huge hug when he got there,
Dean kept looking over to him and just constantly shook his head. Sam looked like a little kid about to meet Santa. But he was ok with that. He deserved to see old friends. As it was, Dean hated dragging him away from everything and everyone he knew. So it was like a favor. Plus he got to hang out with some chick he didn't know.
They pulled up to her driveway and got out of the Impala and as they walked up to the door, Casey ran out of the door with arms wide open.
"Oh god, Sam! I've missed you so much." She said as she hugged him as tight as she could.
Sam hugged her back, gently of course, knowing he could break a rib if he wasn't careful. He noticed another girl standing in the doorway with shoulder length, dark brown curly hair. She looked at Dean like he was a walking disease and smirked whenever he looked at her. She had dark blue eyes and was fulled figured. She was kinda short and had an attitude to her style.
"So is this your friend?" Dean asked as he walked over to the girl in the doorway.
"Yeah. This is Jayne." She made a gesture towards her. "Jayne, This is Dean. The guy I told you about."
"Mhmm. Pleasure." Jayne said and turned and went back inside.
"Well, isn't she Miss Sunshine." Dean said as he watched Sam and Casey getting lovey dovey. "Mind if I go inside?"
"No, go on in." Casey said, not turning away from Sam's eyes.
"Ok then." Dean muttered as he waltzed into the front door, closing it behind him. He looked around and saw
Jayne sitting on the couch watching My Bloody valentine 3D. It was a lame movie. He'd seen it twice thanks to Sam.
He walked over to the couch and sat a respectable distance from her and looked at the TV for a minute before saying "So, how's it goin'?" He looked at her and she him.
"Good I guess." She said, shrugging her shoulders. "You don't have to hang out with me if you don't want. Casey tends to set me up with friends of friends all the time."
"Well, I'd rather hang out with you than watch them drooling everywhere." Dean said as he nodded towards the opening door.
Sam and Casey walked through the door and headed for the kitchen.
"Dean, we're getting a bite to eat, do you guys want to join us?" Sam asked as he kept walking behind Casey with his hands on her shoulders.
"No, I'm ok." Dean replied then looked over to Jayne "You?"
Jayne shook her head "I'm good."
Sam disappeared into the kitchen.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Casey and Sam spent hours talking about old times while Dean and Jayne talked about music and cars. They were all pretty into the conversations and didn't notice the time, which was one am.
Jayne went into Casey's room and reminded her of this.
"It's fine. They're staying here tonight." Casey told her before she turned back to Sam and continued talking.
Jayne could over hear them talking about how they wanted to make plans for the future and for them to maybe travel together. Dean would never allow that, she thought. He's too much of an airhead.
She walked back into the guest room and told Dean the news. "Well, looks like you're stuck here for the night. Casey's decided your fate."
"Did Sam say anything? What were they doing?" Dean asked as he sat up in the chair he was slumped down in.
"They were just talking. They seemed to be really into what ever it was too." She said and shrugged.
"Ugh. Well. I'll crash on the couch." Dean said and got up.
Jayne thought for a minute and she didn't really want to miss her chance to get friendly with this beautiful man.
"Don't be silly. It's a king bed. We can both sleep in here. The couch is way too hard anyways." She suggested as she pulled out another blanket from the closet.
"You sure?" Dean asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Positive." Jayne replied.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sam and Casey were cozy in their own room, laying on the bed and talking about silly things. They could go on forever like that. But Casey was getting tired and Sam knew this.
"We should get some sleep, Casey." Sam suggested while leaning over her, balancing himself on his elbow.
"Maybe we should." Casey said, looking at the clock.
Sam looked at Casey and decided that now would be a good time to make his move. He brushed her face gently and she looked at him with a look he had never seen. But he could tell it was a good look. He continued brushing her face with his fingertips while she played with his hair and just looked at him. Like she was trying to tell him something, but he wasn't sure what it was exactly. He leaned into her lips, touching them to his own, breathing her in little by little. They moved their lips together perfectly. Like they belonged together. Exactly how Sam pictured it.
Not parting their lips for even a second, Sam moved his way over Casey, to lean directly over her and then he stopped. He couldn't go on. He loved her, yes. But he wouldn't take advantage of her while he had this life style. He wouldn't do this then just leave the next day when Dean snapped his fingers and said time to go. He refused.
"I'm sorry. Lets get some sleep." He said, kissing her once more and turning off the lamp then pushing his arm under her neck and pulling her into his chest so he could at least hold her.
"Did I do something wrong, Sam?" Casey asked as she lay in his arms, pondering,
"No, Casey. You could never do anything wrong." He told her.
And they slept.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dean and Jayne were still awake in the other room, fondling each other when Jayne's phone rang.
She broke free from Dean for a minute to answer it.
"Yeah?" She answered her phone rudely.
Jayne didn't expect it to be an old contact she used to hunt with. Casey would want to know this.
Jayne got up and walked to the door.
"What's wrong? Who is it?" Dean asked.
"It's an old friend. I need to talk to Casey about something, so I'll be back." She told him.
Dean nodded as she disappeared into the dark hall.
He climbed off the bed and looked at the floor shaking his head. He noticed a bag on the floor that looked a lot like a bag a hunter would carry. He looked at the door and figured it was safe to snoop around, so he did. He opened the flap on the bag and the first thing he saw was an old hunters knife. Pure silver, with symbols all over the handle. He couldn't believe this. Did Sam know about this?
He got up and walked over to Casey's room and saw her and Jayne talking. "So, hunters, huh?" He said as he held up the knife.
"What the hell, Dean?!" Jayne said as she jolted across the room and tried to snatch the knife from him, failing.
"I'm the one who should be pissed here. Does Sam know? Where is he?" Dean demanded.
"He doesn't know we're hunters. And he doesn't need to." Casey told him angrily.
"Oh I think he does need to know. See, that's my little brother you're playing with. And if you hurt him, I hurt you."
Dean threatened.
"Fine, we'll tell him. But we have to go. There's a hunt in Washington and we need to get there before noon tomorrow." Jayne said before Casey could even open her mouth. She was already tossing things in one of Casey's bags.
"So you're just going to run off?" Dean asked them.
"No choice really." Jayne said as she rushed past him and out the door, coming back in with her bag and taking the knife from him. "We'll call you. Lock the doors on your way out. Thanks."
Casey and Jayne walked out the door and down the stairs. Dean could hear their car start up and pull out of the driveway.
"Great." Dean said to himself. "Sammy? Where you at buddy-boy?"
"Yeah. I'm here." Sam said as he walked into the room and looked around "Where's Casey?"
"They bailed, Sam. They're hunters." Dean told him, walking out of the room and down the stairs. "Lets get out of here and goto Bobby's. I'm tired as hell."
"Yeah. Ok. That sounds good." Sam said, disappointed that Casey didn't say anything to him about her being a hunter.
They locked the doors, climbed into the Impala and headed off to Bobby's to maybe catch a fresh case and some sleep.
"I still want my pants back," Dean told Sam as they drove off of Casey's street and onto the state road.
Sam laughed and shook his head again.
"What? I do." Dean said while he pulled his window down "Bitch."
"Jerk" Sam replied.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
With Jayne behind the wheel, Casey knew she was safe to sleep. She drifted off with no problem at all actually. Jayne kept the radio low, listening only to the good ole stuff. She stopped a few times while Casey was sleeping to get gas and to get some food, shoving the wrappers and paper cups into the back of the 1968 Chevy Camaro that she had driven since she was 17. She cleaned it often, but only when she was settled somewhere for a little while. Never when hunting. Not that she didn't care, she just felt like she didn't have time.
Jayne caught herself thinking of Dean, which was weird because she never really thought about guys anymore. Not since she left home to become a full time hunter. Dean was a great guy and she sort of missed how his arm felt around her waist when they were fooling around in Casey's guest room. She still felt like she could smell his soft musk on her clothing. And she could still feel his breath on her neck, as if he was still whispering those dirty little things in her ear, which she loves.
While she was thinking of how she left Dean, she saw a pair of head lights in her rear view mirror flashing their high beams on and off. She slowed the car down and pulled off to the side, thinking it was just a moronic road rager trying to be a smart ass. However when she pulled off, so did the annoyingly loud car behind them. Then she realized who it was.
She put the car in park and got out, staring back at the bright beams of light burning her eyes, leaning up against the smooth red paint on her car. The engine turned off and Dean popped out of the Impala and started stomping over like a monkey. Jayne giggled to herself when she pictured him jumping up and down, throwing his feces. She stopped laughing when she saw how angry Dean looked though.
"Where the hell are you going, Jayne?!" Dean hollered at her before he came to a complete stop in front of her.
"I told you, we caught a hunt in Washington. We have to be there in less than 6 hours. So if you'll be so kind to throw your feces elsewhere, that'd be great Dean." She hissed back, hoping she wouldn't wake up Casey.
Dean gave her a wicked look and shook his head, ignoring the feces remark as Sam walked up behind him. "Jayne, we want to come with you. Hunting is dangerous." He told her calmly.
"Thanks, but we are big girls. We can take care of ourselves. We know what's out there and we are fully prepared to take on whatever we happen to run into." Jayne arched her shoulder defensively, thinking back of when her family used to treat her like a kid all the time and how much she despised it. She looked over at Casey, who was wiggling out of her deep sleep, then back to the brothers. "You woke her up, are you happy now?! We have to go. Move your car."
Sam sighed and slugged to the passanger side of the Camaro, slouching down to talk to Casey "Why didn't you atleast tell me before that you guys were hunters, Casey? We've known eachother for so long." He seemed disappointed and casey knew she couldn't lie.
"I didn't want you or your brother to get hurt. I know you both are hunters, but it's different knowing you get hurt and knowing that I'm the reason you get hurt." She wiggled so she was sitting even lower in the already low car, almost as if to try to hide herself from him.
"Casey, you don't know how much it means to me that you care. But I care for you just as much. And now that I know that you've been out there, fighting like this... I just wish I could have been with you the entire time to keep you safe." Sam explained to her before he brushed her face gently.
Casey blushed and nodded to show she understood. She was lost for words because she knew he was right. She just didn't want to admit it.
Jayne rolled her eyes and grumbled a bit while she listened to the two talking like they just got out of couples cousiling. She hated watching and hearing Doctor Phil moments like this. And not only did they really need to get going, she really had to pee. She looked over at Dean then Back at Casey and Sam and decided to sneak away to squat somewhere in the woods close by. She passed a few tall bushes and a group of trees just so she was far enough from the cars but not too far. She pushed her pants to her ankels and piddled on the dirt below. She heard something in the woods behind her though so she finished and pulled her pants up, grabbing her knife out of her pocket and going towards the ruffled noise in the brush. She flipped the blade open as she walked foreward. And just as she thought everything was fine and she lowered her defence just a bit, there it was. The wendigo she and Casey were hunting just a few weeks ago. It caught her off gaurd and she screamed at the frightening face in front of her.
Sam, Dean and Casey heard her screams and all three of them went jolting into the woods as Jayne came tumbling out. "CASEY. WENDIGO. NOT DEAD." she said breathlessly. "We need to go now!" She demanded as she stumbled to her car and got into the drivers seat "CASEY! NOW!" Jayne demanded as she remembered exactly what she lost on that hunt last week.
"Calm down Jayne! We need to take care of this now while we still can!" Casey, who was now wide awake, yelled back to her. "We can't just leave this thing out here to kill more people!"
Jayne banged her head on the steering wheel and grumbled something inaudible to herself that sounded something like "You don't know what I went through last time." She got out of the car, hurried to the trunk and popped it open. She gathered her flare gun and her flame thrower and slammed the trunk closed again before she turned around to look at the group. "I'll be damned if some poor kid will go through what I did. Lets smoke this mother fucker." She stomped off into the woods, looking on the trees for markings. The others gathered what they needed and followed her example.
Dean quickly caught up to Jayne before Sam and Casey were even in the woods. "Jayne... you have a history with this thing... whats up with that? What happened?" he asked as she looked around the trees
"I don't want to talk about it." she brushed him off and moved foreward. But Dean refused to accept that as an answer. He trotted to catch up with her again. "JAYNE! STOP!" he grabbed her arm.
She shook him off and turned to him "Look, Dean. I went through shit. Not things I am too proud of. I just... I can't talk about it." Jayne said, her voice trembling. Dean could tell she wanted to cry, yet stay strong.
Jayne turned away from Dean and walked on a few steps before he grabbed her and shoved her against a tree. "You're going to tell me what happened." She tried struggling but it was no use. He was so much stronger than her. She sighed and loosened her shoulders "Fine, you really want to know what happened, I'll tell you. Just let me go first. This tree is making my ass itch."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Casey, my sister and I came out here to hunt this nasty fucker last week. My sister got caught in one of its traps and we went looking for her." Jayne swallowed before she went on telling Dean. She felt as if she was going to break down and start crying, but she didn't. "When we found it's hide out, it wasn't in there, but about 6 dead victims were. Anna was the only live one. She saw me and begged me to shoot her. Her arm was gone and half of her side was eaten out." Jayne started choking on her words. "I put two bullets in my sister head that night. And we never finished the hunt because I couldn't stop crying." she was shaking now and Dean couldn't imagine how that had to feel.
Dean looked at Jayne's face and saw tears trebbling down her face like small drops of rain. He stood up and went over to her "You don't have to be alone in this, Jayne. Sam and I are here. Casey is here. You can trust us." he held out his hand to help her up from the log she was sitting on.
Jayne took his offered hand and pulled herself up with his help. "I know I'm not alone. But I hate having to lean on people when I know they have so much to worry about themselves." She brushed her rear off and burrowed her head deep into thought.
Her thought process was interupted however by a loud screech and something that sounded like a flame thrower. Jayne and Dean exchanged worried looks "Casey and Sam!" they both went running in the direction on the howl.
They halted when they came to a burning wendigo and a laughing, celebrating team made up of the goofiest looking losers they had ever seen. Casey and Sam hi-fived one another as the wendigo flamed away and died.
"Well, you guys missed out on all the fun." Casey slung her pack over her arm and handed her flame thrower over to Sam, who was already holding two of his own. "The wendigo was actually really easy to find. What were you guys doing?" Casey sensed that Jayne was upset but she wasn't sure what about. Jayne had never told her what happened when she went into the wendigo's cave last time they came to hunt it. Just something terrible because she couldn't stop crying. She had some sort of mental break.
"We were uh, talking." Jayne sighs, looking over to Dean then Sam before ducking through the woods in the direction of the car, wanting to be alone.
Dean shrugs and follows after her who is also followed by Sam and Casey, the three of them slightly worried in their own ways as they hurried to catch up with the other woman.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It was over an hour after they got back to the house when Dean annouces that he needs to talk to Jayne and tugs her up the stairs and into the guest room, closing the door and locking it before shoving her against the wall and pressing their lips together, his tongue teasing at her lips.
Jayne, caught off guard about the entire thing, shoved at Dean and gazed at him confused as he stood panting in front of her. "What are you doing, Dean? I can't just have sex with you. Hell, I'm not stooping as low as you to go sleeping with everything with a cock." she huffed, wiping her mouth, clearly feeling differently about him than she had earlier.
"Well you sure as hell didn't ca--" he stopped short and backed away, rubbing the back of his neck, knowing he shouldn't be arguing about something like sex. "I'm sorry, okay. I... We have to go at any rate." he shrugged and moved to the door and heading down stairs where Casey and Sam where making out like animals. "Sammy, car."
"What? Is everything okay?" Sam kissed Casey once more before wandering out after Dean with a feeling that they might not come back for a while. "Dean, what's wrong?"
"We were just visitors, Sammy. Visitors leave." Dean shrugged, looking up towards the window that he knew Jayne was in then got into the Impala with his heart sinking low. Sam buckling as he started her up and pulled out, heading further south.
