So I'm thinking that I'll probably build a gaming/entertainment PC when I get back to Singapore, and should I consider LINUX? (if my primary business with that computer is to game, probably not huh? and I should wait for the new XP OS ( Read more... )

I love reading the 25 reasons, though not all of them are pure advantages. e.g. the ntfs file system is seldom fragmented also. The following is very interesting:

(15) Linux is generally faster for a given set of hardware specifications. This is due to greater optimization of the source code, including far less code bloat.

That is true. Programs are distributed in source, you compile them and optimize it for your machine. However, popular but low power apps like OpenOffice (written in Java eeks!) are still slower. (which idiot invented Java?!!!) But since machines are so fast, these low power apps should run decently fast.

And as you know, linux is hopeless with PC games, just as PC games are hopeless. In fact, games are hopeless! I resolve not to play ANY game that lasts more than a few hours.
