yeah lewis and clark came and were like "we'll give you some of this whiskey and friendship if you move" and they were like "why would we want stuff that would turn us into maniacs?"

i can't really think of one either, but i am one of the very few people who despise alcohol. ironic, huh?

i can't pretend to know everything, but i think most "modern" civilizations have integrated alcohol. there are probably more eastern societies which do not follow the getting drunk example. alcohol's been around for a loong long time and has had seemingly infinite meanings to infinite cultures.

at this point, alcohol is probably in just about every culture affected in any way by 'western civilization'
