Rules!

Welcome to jump_exchange!

jump_exchange is a fanfiction and fanart exchange seeking to unite fans of the various animanga series found in Weekly Shounen Jump.

Sign-ups for the exchange will begin on February 1, 2008 and will end ten days later, on February 10, 2008. Before signing up, we ask that you please read and understand the rules first!

RULES

1. This exchange is for manga and anime series that are found or have been found in Weekly Shounen Jump, and ONLY those series found in Jump.

a. A list of fandoms that may be requested and/or written for can be found here in order of the year they first appeared in the Japanese magazine.

b. Please do not request only extremely obscure fandoms. A few obscure requests are acceptable, but please realize that we anticipate that the participants in this exchange will mainly be interested in fandoms currently or recently appearing in Jump.

c. You may request 5-7 separate prompts, of which your author or artist will pick ONE to write. The requests should NOT all be from the same fandom, though you may request multiples from one fandom as long as you provide ONE alternative fandom that is NOT obscure. If you request a more obscure or older fandom, you must request at least 2 other more mainstream or recent fandoms. We are not doing this to be mean - we just want to be sure that everyone knows at least one but preferably two or more of the fandoms they are writing or drawing for when they receive their request.

2. Cross-overs are not banned, however this is NOT a crossover exchange.

3. If you request a fic/fanart at the request post, you must agree to write a fic or draw a fanart in return. Lurkers/watchers are also welcome, but they may not request gifts.

4. You cannot choose the person for whom you will write or draw. You will be assigned a challenge via email by the one of the moderators (nickelodeon or takewing).

5. Signups will last until February 10th. No signups will be accepted after that.

6. Only the first 60 sign-ups will be accepted, so sign up as soon as you can to reserve your spot!

7. Fics and art can be any rating (G-NC17) and any type of pairing (het, slash, femslash or gen).

- Because NC-17 material will be hosted at jump_exchange, those under the age of 18 are prohibited. If you turn 18 before posting starts (May 1, 2008), there is no issue and you will be allowed to participate. If not, we're sorry, but you're out of luck. YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO MAKE AN AGE STATEMENT WHEN YOU SIGN-UP.

8. All fics must be at least 1,000 words. We will perform wordcount checks if the fic looks too short. There is no maximum length limit.

9. All fics must be spellchecked and (preferably, but not mandatory) beta read.

10. In order to preserve anonymity, all fics must be able to stand on their own and not be part of another series or a sequel/prequel to other fics by the same writer.

11. All fics and art should be e-mailed to the community moderators (nickelodeon and takewing) at spring_fluff@yahoo.com for posting. DO NOT try to post them to the community yourself. This would defeat the purpose of an anonymous fic/art exchange.

12. The moderators reserve the right to return any fic or fanart for revision if they feel it does not meet quality standards.

13. Fics and art are due by April 15th . Posting will begin on May 1st and run throughout the month of May. Depending on how many signups we receive, the number of gifts posted per day could be less than one or multiples.

14. You are free to try and guess who wrote your fic or drew your fanart after it has been posted. The identities of all writers and artists will be revealed in early June.

15. All fics and art posted here will be exclusive to the community until the names of the writers and artists have been revealed. Please do not post them elsewhere on the Internet until that time.

16. If you want to participate, post a comment to Friday, February 1st's signup post with the following information (please stick to this format, as it will make things much easier on the mods):

* Your LJ user name
* Your email address (mandatory!)
* Would you prefer to receive fic, art, or do you have no preference?
* Are you planning on producing fic, art, or do you have no preference?
* Which fandoms would you like to receive fic or art for?
* Which fandoms are you willing to write or draw for? (Be sure to list ANYTHING that you would feel comfortable writing or drawing - again, the complete list of acceptable fandoms is here.)

* For the fic/art you want written or drawn for you:

1. Three to five of your preferred pairings or characters and their respective Shounen Jump fandoms (Feel free to use pairing abbreviations if you like, but please also provide specific character names for those who may not know your pairing abbreviation(s).)
2. What sort of scenario or prompts would you like to provide for each of the above pairings or characters? (For example, adventure, romance, angst, comedy, etc, in terms of genre. Any other prompts or ideas you have are also welcome. Be specific, so your recipient has some idea what to write for you!)
3. What would you rather not be included in your gift? (In terms of ratings, genre, squicks, or anything else you can think of.)
4. Anything else you want included in your fic or art?
(Here you can say that you may not be caught up with a series or any additional things that you would want the person working for you to know.)

* For the fic/art you are going to write or draw for someone else:

1. Are their any characters or pairings in the fandoms you are willing to write or draw for that you feel uncomfortable writing or drawing? (Please try to keep this list short if at all possible!)
2. Any genres you do not want to write or draw (Do not include ratings in this section - this is where you can clarify that you are not good with comedy or angst, etc. It will be assumed that you are willing to write any genre that is not listed in this section.)
3. Any ratings you refuse to write or draw (Remember that fics and art with ratings G-NC17 are allowed.)

Please provide a statement that you are 18 years or older (or will TURN 18 before or on May 1, 2008) here.

You must state 5-7 separate requests to give the author or artist some room to work with. Please refer to Rules 1b and Ic!! A good example of a signup would be the following:

* takewing

* me@email.com

* Receive: fic

* Produce: fic

* Naruto, Bleach, D.Gray-man, One Piece, Death Note

* One Piece, Naruto, Prince of Tennis, Hikaru no Go

* For the fic/art you want written or drawn for you:

1. Sasuke/Naruto (Naruto), Ichigo/Ishida (Bleach), Allen/Linali (D.Gray-man), Luffy/Nami (One Piece), Zoro/Sanji (One Piece), L/Light (Death Note)

2. Sasuke/Naruto: angst, longing, with a happy ending; Ichigo/Ishida: rivalry, being boys, romantic comedy; Allen/Linali: hurt/comfort, angst with a hopeful tone; Luffy/Nami: comedy/crack, prompt is "stretchy"; Zoro/Sanji: witty (or not so witty) banter, nakamaship or pairing implied; L/Light: a candid moment with introspection.

3. No ratings above PG-13 for any of them. No other pairings implied, if possible, and no extreme seme/uke dynamics for the slash pairings.

4. Post time-jump for Sasuke/Naruto. Please no spoilers beyond episode 60 of the anime for the Allen/Linali. No spoilers past Water 7 for One Piece.

* For the fic/art you are going to write or draw for someone else:

1. No.

2. Severe angst, absolute crack, AUs, cross-overs.

3. No NC-17 requests please.

I am over 18 years of age.

OTHER IMPORTANT NOTES

* Assignments will be out no later than ONE WEEK from the end of sign-ups.

* If you have any questions about your assignment, send an email to spring_fluff@yahoo.com, and we will get in touch with your recipient to ask the question for you in order to preserve anonymity.

* Also, it may be helpful to lurk around your recipient's journal in order to get an idea of what they may or may not like in regards to their assignment.

* General questions about the rules or the exchange itself may be asked on this post or any other post made by either moderator (nickelodeon or takewing). We will try to get back to your ASAP.

* Because everyone participating in this community has different tastes, you may end up being given an assignment which includes a certain fandom, genre, pairing, or character you are uncomfortable writing/drawing. Do not feel intimidated if you see your recipient wants something from a fandom with which you are no familiar - there are 5-7 prompts to chose from - pick one you are most confident working with.

* If you're planning on participating in jump_exchange, please friend the community in order to keep up with any announcements we may make between now and posting time.

* All submitted fics and art should include the following headers in the body of the email:

Recipient's name (VERY VERY IMPORTANT)

Fandom

Title

Rating

Author/Artist (this is for our record keeping purposes only; we will remove your name from the headers before we post your fic to the community)

Pairing(s)/Character(s)

Disclaimer (if different from the standard)

Warnings (if any)

Author's or Artist's notes (if any)- Please make sure if you want to thank a beta to disguise their name as betas can be traced to specific authors. If you do not do this, we can simply change the thanks to the beta's initial for you to help maintain anonymity.

* All fics should be submitted as .txt, .rtf, and .doc format ONLY. If your fic requires any special formatting (e.g., italics, bold, etc.), please include the appropriate HTML tags.

* All art should be submitted as an attachment to an email. Any common image format accepted by the usual image uploading clients is allowed (ie - .jpg, .png, .gif, etc).

* Please wait until February 1st to post your request - though you can certainly begin to think about it now.

* Please be aware that if necessary, we may have to give your fic or art to someone other than the person you were assigned. If someone drops out of the fest, before calling for backup writers or artists we may go to take a look at the finished assignments and see if they can be re-assigned. If we end up having to give your fic or art to a person other than the one you thought you were writing/drawing for, we will let you know prior to posting it.

* Please note that these rules are subject to revision.

And that's it! See you on February 1! :)
