Tell me, when was 'Lesbian' named a music genre? Inquiring minds would like to know.

(I was scrolling through my music library, and under 'GENRE', among 'Folk' and 'Acoustic Rock', I found 'Lesbian' once or twice.)

Does that mean you have to have gay ears to listen to it?

Lesbian music is actually recorded using special equipment and then post-processed so that the heterosexual ear is completely incapable of perceiving these specially-encoded songs.

Matt says that there is an actual genre called "lesbians with guitars." I mean,I always knew there were certain types of music that pretty much only included lesbians with guitars, I just didn't know that it had earned its own place in the music community.

yeah, I've noticed that sometimes you seem to be grooving to music that I don't hear.

Lesbian as a genre is one of the most up and coming musical establishments ever since we learned that Melissa Ethridge would rather have Serena Williams come to her window than Brad Pitt. It may even stem from other famous, historical events, such as the Great Lesbian Revolution of 1933 (actually I made that up). But the Lesbian Genre should never, under no cirucmstances, be confused with the "Gay-Ass" genre, which includes such bands as Dashboard Confessional and Nick Lachey.

-Excerpt from World Music Dictionary for the Sophisticated Ear, Nathan Corbett co-editor

Editor's Note: Many publications have challenged Mr. Corbett's credentials regarding his authorship of the "World Music Dictionary for the Sophisticated Ear." However, Mr. Corbett has replied to his critics with his much esteemed academic essay, "Oh Come On, Dashboard Confessional Is So Very Gay," published in "Gay Cock Ass Music Weekly."
